WIW: new dress

For Christmas, my DH gave me a cute sweater dress, in a color I love, and it fits beautifully. He also gave me a lovely scarf that goes with it. I wore the two on Christmas with black leggings. Today I'm wearing the dress again, for work. I have other outfit plans for it, too, which I will photograph later.

The outfit: Burgundy cowl-neck sweater dress (Bobeau); burgundy and gray plaid matelasse asymmetric vest (made by me); black tights; gray suede booties (Paul Green, Delgado). I also tried burgundy lace-up boots (Josef Seibel), photo 3, but decided to wear the gray boots today.

Thanks for looking! I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

WIW: the color of the day (green)

Angie's post on green today coincided with my desire to wear my bottle green (a teal shade) cashmere sweater. I paired it with boyfriend jeans, scarf, belt, and boots--a very simple, casual outfit for a day off.

The outfit: Dark boyfriend jeans (Kut from the Kloth, Catherine); bottle green cashmere pullover (Halogen); ethnic print wool scarf in mint, teal, ivory, and espresso (Asian Eye); taupe-gray belt (Cowboys Belts); gray croc moto boots (Donald J. Pliner, Dalis); taupe trench coat (Calvin Klein); taupe shoulder bag (Aunts & Uncles); red lipstick for a little bit of festive spirit (Laura Mercier stick gloss in cranberry).

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think.

WIW: a few neutrals

I decided to try Angie's "many neutrals" ensemble after all. At first, I thought, Gee, this isn't going to be very festive. Then Tanya posted a festive one, then Mirjana . . . and I had to give it a try, too. I decided to let red lipstick be my festive touch.

The outfit, worn for a day off: dark skinny jeans (Mother, the Looker); gray scroll burnout tee (made by me); charcoal long cardigan (Halogen); brown belt (B-Low the Belt); espresso moto boots (Miu Miu); navy trench coat (London Fog); dark blue faux suede gloves; espresso and black satchel (Joy Gryson); silver and brass jewelry (earrings and necklace, Marjorie Baer; wrap bracelet, Lucky); red lipstick (Laura Mercier stick gloss, cranberry).

Thanks for looking! I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions.

WIW: shades of burgundy & gray

Angie's ensemble: Burgundy, Eggplant & Grey Accents has inspired me to try mixing some burgundies with eggplant shades. . . and these outfits are not quite in that realm. Those outfits will have to come later!

Meanwhile, I wore these outfits, mixing harmonious shades of burgundy with gray and black, this weekend, for work and for a day off with a piano recital.

The outfits:
1: Worn for a day off, pre-recital. Deep burgundy jeans, which I have referred to in the past as eggplant (Rag & Bone, Dre); texty print tee in plum, mauve, burgundy, gray, black, and white (made by me); long dark burgundy (mix of burgundy and black yarns) boucle cardigan (Halogen); black belt with ornate buckle (Bed Stu); dangle silver bead earrings; gray suede booties (Paul Green, Delgado).

2: Worn to teach sewing class. Light burgundy ankle pants (Loft); texty plum tee and long burgundy cardigan (as above); black belt; flat black booties (Munro, Lexie); silver pave jewelry (Lucky).

3-5: Worn for piano recital (gotta have flat shoes to play). Trying out different combinations--outfit same as 2, but without the pendant, switched to a silver belt, and trying black loafers (Munro, Kimi), grey shimmer suede oxfords (Naot, Kedma), and mauve ballet flats with black cap toe (AGL).

Thanks for looking! I appreciate any suggestions or feedback. I'm not sure yet which shoes I'll walk out the door in. It will be fun to hear your picks if you have favorites.

WIW: casual holiday party and other "festive" wear

We had our holiday party at work this week , and my coworkers and I played elves, handing out door prizes. (It was actual work for us, a customer appreciation party.) Still trying to keep things festive throughout the month, with small touches (perhaps barely discernible to others!).

1-2: holiday party outfit. Black harem pants (Eileen Fisher); red plaid t-shirt (made by me); dark red cashmere v-neck pullover (which I cropped); black suede booties with gray cuff (Paul Green). Red nail polish (Deborah Lippmann, Stand by Your Man). Also red lipstick (Laura Mercier, Cranberry stick gloss).
3-4: worn to work. Black skirted leggings (Eileen Fisher); black, gray, and white print knit angled hem tunic (made by me); black raw-edged jacket with loop front, looped around my neck (Veronique Miljkovitch); gray suede booties (Paul Green); silver dangly beaded earrings and red nail polish.
5-7: worn for a day off and shopping, in the rain. Black skinny jeans (Eileen Fisher); aqua merino stepped-hem sweater (Eileen Fisher); cream print scarf; gray moto boots (Frye, Lynn); taupe trench (Calvin Klein); black satchel (Elliott Lucca, Olvera); red nail polish.

In 6, I'm wearing the wine colored lace-up boots I bought while out (Josef Seibel, Sandra 14). I was wanting a pair of lug-soled boots for slippery sidewalks, for winter travel.
In 7, I'm also showing what I looked like tromping around in the rain, with my hood up--I took the photo right after I arrived back home, with raindrops still clinging to my hood. Nothing says "holiday season" like a dark, rainy day full of bustling shoppers, right?

Thanks for looking! I appreciate your thoughts and comments.
