WIW: to Portland YLF meetup

Today I got to meet up with several wonderful YLF members in Portland. The local crew in Portland--Cerinda, Rabbit, Muffin, and Ambergreen--welcomed several of us from out of town, including Kari, her mother, and me, from Seattle, and Theodora and Viva from across the country!--and we had a great time. The only photo I have for you is what I wore, taken after I got back home. We did take the requisite bag and shoe shots, though, and there should be one from our scrumptious brunch, organized by Muffin. We browsed through Nordies, Banana Republic, and a few very cool local shops downtown and had a terrific time visiting!
Thanks to the "PDX" crew for organizing and getting us together!

My outfit:
Dark skinny jeans (Mother, the Looker highrise, in Coffee Tea or Me); angled-hem sweater tunic with an abstract running-paint kind of print in blues and greens on gray (made by me); olive leather moto jacket (AllSaints, Hawks); dark brown high-top lace-up boots (Born, Troye); espresso and black satchel (Joy Gryson, Natalie).

WIW: plaid and pearls

Here's my outfit inspired by Angie's plaid shirt ensemble post. I am not a big wearer of plaid or of button-up shirts. But I do have a couple of plaid t-shirts (four, if you count blurry-plaid patterns), so I chose my red plaid tee. My animal-print cardi is a nod to the faux-fur topper in Angie's ensemble and to the leopard print toppers that are popping up all over this season. And I put my hair up and wore red lipstick, a la my style icon, Linda Rodin (photo 3).

I'm not sure I will even venture out of the house in this outfit (stormy weather!), but I can at least show it to you all here.

The outfit:
Black skinny frayed hem jeans (Mother, the Looker, Blackbird wash); red, black, and gray plaid tee (made by me); gray fuzzy animal print cardigan (Free People, Out of Africa); studded belt (Suzi Roher); faux pearl collar necklace (Cristabelle); marcasite disc earrings (Lucky); black waterproof moto boots (Blondo).

New work clothes: a 6-item capsule

I posted here about my new job as a part-time sales associate at OSKA in Seattle. The company provides a "uniform" of a few outfits, so that we can wear clothes from the current collection to work. I got to choose my outfits from the styles available at the store.

Here's the capsule of six items that I chose, and photos of a bunch of outfits that I can create using them.
The pieces:
"Renzi" trousers, a lantern shaped style, in a black and white striped wool
"Nang" trousers, a cropped wide-leg, in navy viscose-elastin blend
"Rommy wash" trousers, a harem style, in black washed wool knit with raw edges
"Pilvi" pullover, a knit vest with short funnel neck, in a marled gray wool and cotton blend
"Raima" blouse, a cotton shirt with a small stand collar, in a very pale gray poplin
"Raissa" blouse, a short swing jacket with small stand collar, in a charcoal lightweight crinkled wool blend

I have already added a crew-neck long-sleeved knit top in the light gray color and a scarf, to extend the possibilities even further. I didn't picture them here, because I wanted to explore and show just how far the initial capsule could go on its own.

The job is a lot of fun, and I'm really enjoying how easy it is to get dressed for work. This required uniform gives me the chance to play with a minimal wardrobe, without giving up the variety I love in my non-work wardrobe.

Thanks for looking! I welcome any comments and suggestions!
