WIW: to Portland YLF meetup

Today I got to meet up with several wonderful YLF members in Portland. The local crew in Portland--Cerinda, Rabbit, Muffin, and Ambergreen--welcomed several of us from out of town, including Kari, her mother, and me, from Seattle, and Theodora and Viva from across the country!--and we had a great time. The only photo I have for you is what I wore, taken after I got back home. We did take the requisite bag and shoe shots, though, and there should be one from our scrumptious brunch, organized by Muffin. We browsed through Nordies, Banana Republic, and a few very cool local shops downtown and had a terrific time visiting!
Thanks to the "PDX" crew for organizing and getting us together!

My outfit:
Dark skinny jeans (Mother, the Looker highrise, in Coffee Tea or Me); angled-hem sweater tunic with an abstract running-paint kind of print in blues and greens on gray (made by me); olive leather moto jacket (AllSaints, Hawks); dark brown high-top lace-up boots (Born, Troye); espresso and black satchel (Joy Gryson, Natalie).

    Love that tunic!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

    Aw, thanks, minimalist!

I knew just reading the description of your outfit, before looking at the photo, that I would love it. And I do! The tunic is fantastic with the olive jacket. I am so envious of your sewing skills.

Great outfit like always, fantastic tunic, I love color combo  olive and dark brown.

  • Style Fan replied 7 years ago

Great outfit.  I love that All Saints jacket.  You are so talented.  What a fantastic tunic.  Great colours.

  • Karie replied 7 years ago

I love, love, love that top you made (you knew I would say that but it's true!) Your choice of fabric and design is outstanding.

  • kkards replied 7 years ago

love the  layering of this outfit...and that jacket is TDF!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 7 years ago

Great top and love the layering.

  • Elizabeth P replied 7 years ago

You look fantastic.  I really like you in "shades" of colour.
The meet up sounds so fun.  Funny, when Viva said she was going to a meet up in Portland, I assumed Portland, MAINE.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 7 years ago

I also thought Viva was talking about Maine.

I love this color palette on you.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Great color scheme for you. You look great!

  • Staysfit replied 7 years ago

You look fantastic as always! Your tunic is beautiful! Perfect choices of jacket, shoes and bag to accessorize your creation.

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

What a fantastic out, the asymmetric top you made is gorgeous.  Sounds like the meetup was lots of fun, yay.

  • Joyce B replied 7 years ago

That's a beautiful outfit! I think you could find more than one customer for a tunic like yours.

  • Eliza replied 7 years ago

Terrific look! Sounds like a wonderful gathering. Thanks for sharing.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

I'll bet nobody from the forum had any trouble recognizing you! This is such a characteristic Firecracker look, so texturally rich, sumptuously moody, and, of course, reliant on fab boots, bag, and jacket! Glad you had fun with the crowd.

Cute outfit- sounds like a great time!

  • replied 7 years ago

Awesome outfit. You look like a rock star!

  • Chris987 replied 7 years ago

Love your outfit, you always wear such lovely and interesting styles! Can't wait to see more pics, is someone going to post the shoe/bag shots!

Not to hijack this thread, but  Elizabeth and Ummlila (or anyone else) I wonder if there would be interest in a meet up in Portland Maine? The Maine Mall is not a very interesting one, with Macys and JCP as the anchor stores, although there are BR and JCrew and a few other smaller chains. Portland is also full of interesting and funky boutiques. Let me know what you think, and maybe I'll start up a separate forum topic.

  • Jenn replied 7 years ago

I adore those colors! So beautiful, especially with the to-die-for olive jacket!

Did you keep the lighter brown laces in the darker Børn boots? I really like that subtle contrast. Earthy and interesting.

  • Bonnie replied 7 years ago

Great outfit - I want it all. Glad you had a fun visit in Portland.

  • viva replied 7 years ago

    First, Chris987: Portland, Maine?? YES.

And this meetup in the other Portland was so amazing. I was on the west coast for work and in Portland OR to visit my daughter. It was wonderful meeting this group of women. Sharan (Firecracker) was the first person I saw and it was as if the forum came to life in front of me! So recognizable, and yet also so much more amazing and beautiful in person (true for everyone). And, can I say, we ALL wanted this tunic. The material was incredible and her craftsmanship is expert. I would have bought it right off her body. Sharan, I love this entire look head to toe, from your hair and glasses to your boots, which I actually woke up thinking about. (As in, I really need a pair of lace-up boots like Sharan's.) :)

  • Elizabeth P replied 7 years ago

Chris987:  I'd love a Portland (or anywhere else in Maine... Bangor anyone? :) (the spot my friends all trekked to for before school shopping)) meetup, but I am highly unlikely to be able to do something like that until the summer.  We do go to Sunday River for spring break every once and a while, but won't be next year.

  • kate replied 7 years ago

    Love that olive moto!

  • Chris987 replied 7 years ago

I just started a separate topic on a possible Portland Maine meetup...under "off topic".

  • texstyle replied 7 years ago

Great outfit - love the moto and your hair!

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

    Killer

Glad you had a great time.

  • Inge replied 7 years ago

Arty and absolutely amazing, Sharan. I love how you've paired olive and those beautiful browns with the cool-toned top. Great silhouette too.

So glad to hear you ladies had such a marvelous time together!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

Wow, you guys, I'm blushing. Thank you for all the compliments.

Ha ha! I'm chuckling at the assumption of Portland, ME, which makes sense when you hear Viva was there. A wee bit far from it this time, though!

Jenn, these laces are a close match the boot--no interesting contrast there.

Vivian, I'm surprised to have spawned boot envy, when you were wearing MY favorite brand, Paul Green. I will say these Borns are awfully comfy, and I there's a grunge-lite touch to them that I like. I think they've earned a spot in my travel capsule for next week.

Suz, thanks! I appreciate hearing this outfit is characteristic Firecracker--it's an outfit of favorites and felt easy and fun.

Chris, I know! I'm awaiting the bags, shoes, and brunch shots, too! I think Muffin has them, and/or Kari. . . . ?

You look fantastic as always, and meetups are so much fun!  It really is like meeting your favorite celebrities.  :)

I absolutely love the colors in that tunic.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

Yes, Una, it is a bit like meeting celebs! We are our own little celebrity universe. :)

  • Cerinda replied 7 years ago

I wish everyone could have seen the too-cool-for-school sales staff at one of the boutiques sit up and take  notice when Sharan added one of their belts to her outfit.

Such an effortless, chic, outfit, Sharan,  And that green jacket is so perfect on you.

  • Sal replied 7 years ago

Another great Portland look.  You lot must have been so stylish.  Nice colour palette here Firecracker!!

  • El Cee replied 7 years ago

You look so stunning. What a fabulous tunic.

  • CocoLion replied 7 years ago

You look great in that moto!!! Dang, now I want one too.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 7 years ago

I copied that moto from Firecracker right after she bought it because it was so amazing on her, but got a blue/teal one.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

    Ha, Cerinda!

Angie, wish you could have been there with us!

UmmLila, I had forgotten that! Denise, I think you probably need the AllSaints moto. They don't have the exact one now, but they have similar ones, and I think they still have my color and UmmLila's blue, which if I'm not mistaken, was called "petrol."

  • Momo replied 7 years ago

    Sounds fun!
Love the outfit. Amazing shirt and jacket.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Tunic and everything else are fabulous. Glad you had a great meetup!

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Sharan, you can do no wrong. You look amazing!

  • Muffin replied 7 years ago

Sharan, it was such a pleasure to meet you! And I can attest to the beautiful craftsmanship of her top but what really struck me was her incredible eye for color (the glasses, your top, your jacket and hair were just gorgeous all together)! I hope to see you again and maybe Seattle next time.
