High-low summer sweater

I dressed today before reading Angie's post, but it turns out I'm wearing one of the items she suggests: a high-low cotton sweater. Mine is part acrylic as well as cotton, technically, but it feels like cotton.

The outfit (worn for a day off): indigo high-low open stitch sweater (RD, Nordstrom); skinny boyfriend jeans (Silver, Lola); pewter belt (Fossil); metallic high-top sneakers (Paul Green); blue and green iridescent earrings (?); olive anorak-like jacket (Laundry by Shelli Segal); brown-gray taupe bag (Aunts & Uncles).

I got this sweater specifically to have an updated top to wear with my linen pants, after reading Angie's recent linen ensemble post. (While it's called "crop sweater," it is a tad longer in the back, so it wears like a high-low to me.) This is the first time I'm wearing it, because the weather has been a little too cool for an open-knit sweater. I really like it! I'm wondering if I should get another color. What do you think?

Oh, and I was playing with the roll on the jeans: 1-higher roll; 2-medium roll; 3 & 4-low roll. Which looks better?

Thanks for looking! Your thoughts welcome.

FC, you really wear clothes ridiculously well! I love this. It's perfect. I prefer the single roll, but the double looks great too!

WOW!  You look amazing.  I vote high roll, shows off the sneakers better.

Wow, for the price I think you should definitely add another of the sweaters. Maybe the Fatigue colour? The neckline is really flattering on you.
I'm hopeless on rolls, so will defer to others. I was wearing white jeans yesterday with what I thought was quite a flattering roll, and a friend said don't you get your pants hemmed? Duh.

Great sweater and full outfit with anorak and bag. I'm totally on board with thes3 colors for myself. I prefer the low roll. To my eye, it sort of embraces the sneakers to bring them forward, into focus.

You were fashionably in sync today :)
Maybe it is because we can see your lovely face but I like the pants as they are rolled in #1.
    Fabulous outfit!

Well done!  love the shape and fluid fit of the sweater.

Firecracker, I decided to use the grid type layout tonight to see what pics and posts appealed visually. The pic that appears for your post is super-model cool! Love your outfit!

Ooh, I love all the denim tones and textures. The sweater is lovely on you and I think roll-wise I prefer 1 or 2 to show off your shoes.

So cool! Firecracker I love this outfit on you - and seeing you in that sweater makes me want to get one.  I prefer the highest roll - I think it adds just a touch of structure to the lower bottom of your outfit by showing us your ankles.  Hope you are wearing this outfit with confidence because you look cool and sophisticated with a touch or edge!

    Killer

Also very 2014. You are quite the sneaker gal. xo

    What Marley said!

I love you in this navy -- it's a fantastic colour on you, and the bit of skin showing through the sweater adds such a great texture -- fun with the distressing on the jeans. I like the higher roll.

I love the outfit too - I probably am not qualified to give proper roll advice because I kind of prefer a lower roll myself.

This is so good! I like the rolls in the odd-numbered pics.

Great sweater, great outfit. I always love seeing the colours you wear - perfect for you. I prefer the first roll.

The sweater looks gorgeous on you! I like one roll best.

    Thanks, everyone!

Missvee, you're right, the sweater price is great, and you picked the color I would probably add. I have a similar open-knit sweater, but despite the open weave, it's not summery. It's a warmer yarn. So perhaps it wouldn't be an unnecessary duplicate. I had to laugh at your roll story! Sounds like something my dad might say, teasing me.

Hil, Marley, Angie, Suz, I'm blushing. Angie, I can't believe how hard I've fallen for to the sneaker trend. And just last year I was wanting to add more sophistication to my style.

Rachylou, you seem to have summarized the roll opinions. Either highest or lowest are winners. I think I feel the same way.

    Absolutely fabulous.
Definitely higher roll. It looks sleek and intentional.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

But you're wearing your sneaks with sophistication. Sorted. xo

    You look great!

Big huge fan of this look. I have always loved a sheer sweater over a tank with jeans. You make it look so classic yet fun modern and COOL! I find it difficult to get just the right amount of drape and fit with similar sweaters on me so I'll just admire you.
