A timely query for silvery lavender

April's quest for silvery lavender tops was timely for me. I had the color on my mind as one to keep an eye out for. Specifically I wanted it to go with a jacket I made a few years ago, which I have trouble wearing, even though it should go with a lot of my clothes.

I went to Aritzia to see if I could try any of the tops Inge found for April. I came home with this one. It's very oversized. This is a size down from my usual, and it is still big. But I like the look and feel of it. I think it brings a little attitude to the jacket. I also tried it with my new blazer bought at NAS (which has a thin line of purple running through the checks), and with a knit vest that I also like to pair with an oversized blouse.

One thing I'm bummed about: I paid full price, and when I looked it up online to make the Find, I see it's on sale. If I had paid the sale price, though, I wouldn't be able to return it. So if I decide to keep it, I'll see if I can get a price adjustment (or return it to the store and order it online).

photos:
1) The shirt on its own. I buttoned the cuffs two ways. The sleeves are a little long, but when I button the cuffs on the second button, they sit fine, and I don't feel the sleeves look or feel too-too long. I buttoned the other cuff after turning it back, creating a faux cufflink effect, a trick I like to use sometimes.

2) With the jacket that could use a companion.

3) With my new blazer (1.State).

4) With a slate gray and off-white marled knit vest (OSKA).

5) What I wore shopping. Boyfriend jeans (Citizens of Humanity, Emerson); dusty teal t-shirt (Madewell); hemp knit off-white jacket (OSKA); off-white loafers (Open Edit); sage cross-body camera bag (Madewell).

I'm thinking I'll probably keep it, but am open to your thoughts.

P.S. They have the same shirt in cotton and in linen. I got the cotton one; didn't see the linen in store, but I'd prefer the cotton anyway, for year-round wear.

Wow, I love it on you!! I like the longer hem on this—oversized but not overly so. It look great peeking out
From the toppers. Perfect in all iterations and I love your shopping WIW too!

    Thank you, Kelly!

I am nodding along with Kelly girl. In addition to the beautiful color, I really like the length but it is not too oversized through your shoulders.
It looks really good with those jeans and styled with your jackets.
    Is your hair different?

Indigoprint, thank you! My hair has been cut like this for a while, though it does change a bit sometimes from cut to cut. This most recent couple of cuts, I went with bangs, which are a little more off-my-face today than usual.

Looks like a very versatile keeper! Love that it goes well with oversized jackets and as an over shirt.

Can you try a size down?  I think the fit would still be fluid, but fit your shoulders and sleeves better.

FWIW, I sized down in the Aritzia dress below in finds, and kind of wish I’d sized down again!  Hard to know when ordering on line, and honestly, hard to see myself in a ‘S’.  I may take it to a tailor/seamstress for an opinion.

Good idea, Carla. I thought I got the smallest size (XS), but there is a size smaller on the website. It's on sale, though, so not returnable. I do see the website says you can return for store credit. hmmm.

    eta: ordered it!

    Thumbs up!

Wow! Can’t tell you how much I like it! :)

Beautiful colour on you Sharan, and it seems you may be sorted wrt sales pricing! I’ve had very good luck particularly with on line purchases in getting price adjustments.

Ooh, what a great layering piece! Love it in all the photos. Lovely color, too. Also I must say I like your cuffed jeans and loafer combo. You have such flair.

I love this colour. It looks beautiful on you. I think you will sort the size/ price issue out by the end and it is always good to be able to compare.

I too am loving this shirt for you, Sharan! I like the fit, but it can't hurt to try the size down too. All the outfits you've put together with it look beautiful, looks like this will be very versatile for you, yay!!

I love this shirt on you, the colour is beautiful and it works so well with your styling. I would imagine that both sizes will work and unless you prefer the oversized fit, the XS will be perfect on you.

This silvery lilac is such a lovely and soft colour without being too sweet - definitely something to look out for.

Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to getting the smaller one to try!

Shopping outfit is KILLER! Waving at my white loafer cousin! The matching belt and bag strap just about launched me into orbit....

LOVING the dusty lilac shirt, and in the right size it has KILLER potential. Slam dunk with those jackets :)

Thank you, Angie! I'm humbled to have just about launched you!

The smaller shirt arrived, and it is better! Still oversized enough. It is the keeper! (Sorry, no pics, but it looks pretty similar.)

Love this color with your hair!

Waving at my silvery lavender friend!

You may have seen that I love Inge's pick of a summer cardigan in "Cadet" from Universal Standard.  (Can "Cadet" possibly mean a grayed lavender?  Or did someone buy several colors and return this one in the wrong bag?)

  • Runcarla replied 2 months ago

Glad it worked out…and it’s the sale version too, right?

  • suntiger replied 2 months ago

Great color! Did you have a pic of the smaller one?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 months ago

April, so funny. I don't see that color as "cadet," at all! Thanks for asking the question that led me to this shirt!

Yes, Carla, it's the sale item. Bonus!

Suntiger, sorry, no pics. It still is a dropped shoulder, and the sleeves are still on the long side. So, an oversized fit but a little neater.
