WIW: a silk tee and new jacket

As part of my "wear the clothes" campaign, I brought out a silk tee I made a while back but have only worn once that I can remember. Of course I needed a topper, because it was in the 60s for the first half of this summer day, inside as well as outside. I tried a few options and landed on this jacket, a recent sewing project, which honestly I wasn't sure I would wear, once i finished it. But it feels good on, and I like it with this outfit, so it may have a purpose after all!

The outfit (worn for a day at home):
Off-white boyfriend jeans (Citizens of Humanity, Emerson); silk watercolor floral tee (Coram Top pattern by Allie Olson, made by me); navy textured-cotton jacket with miniature peplum (Sterling Jacket pattern from The Sewing Workshop, made by me); off-white loafers (27 Edit); olive belt (Fossil); sage crossbody bag (Madewell).

Nice!  That's way beyond "silk tee". :D Very distinctive.

Ok, I had hard time moving on from the first two photos - what a stunningly beautiful t-shirt! Love, love, love!
    The whole outfit is fab!

That pattern is the BOMB with your hair! So is the white! GORGEOUS.

    Sharan,
you have an incredible eye for patterns and colours that work well for your style and wardrobe. Like works of art! Beautiful.

Awesome outfit! Very cool silk tee. I am wowed by the watercolor design. I like the additions of belt, bag and jacket.

    Thank you all!
Vildy, you gave me a chuckle! Irina, too!
Angie, must be something in the air! a white jeans & loafers kind of day. Thanks for the compliment on my eye. . . sometimes a fabric practically grabs me by the arm, and this was one of them.
    cat2 and Nikki, thank you!

You look great Sharan! Love the tee - and the styling. It looks like it would work with denim and olive and black too - plus probably cobalt and grey!!

  • replied 2 years ago

A work of art, like Angie said.  1000% fabulous!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

Thank you, Sal and Xtabay! Sal, yes, it goes with my olive pants and certainly with denim, or black, or navy. I don't have any cobalt, but gray, yes, is another option. Quite versatile!

  • Vildy replied 2 years ago

Not just an artist's eye for color and pattern but you have a wonderful grasp of proportion, too. I understand many of your things *are* custom made but it all looks custom made when put together.  Even the jeans have a custom made air.  Or perhaps they are?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

That's so nice of you to say, Vildy, I'm flattered! No, the jeans are definitely ready-to-wear.

  • Indigoprint replied 2 years ago

So FAB !! silk feels so good on the skin. Love the neckline detail and how it coordinates with your white jeans.
    Wear often

  • Echo replied 2 years ago

I'm in awe of your sewing skills! That t-shirt is absolutely fantastic - what a gorgeous print placed perfectly on the top. And jackets aren't easy to sew! You are greatly skilled and VERY stylish. YLF!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

    Thank you, Indigoprint and Echo!

Gorgeous tee - so jealous of your collection of cool tops and your wonderful talent for making them!

  • Jaime replied 2 years ago

Brava! Love the tee and how it ties in the bag and belt.

I am loving to see you wear your beautiful clothes. I can see why you were potentially saving this special silk top, but am thrilled that you got to wear and enjoy it because if is so lovely. The new jacket is fabulous too, a beautiful fit on you.

  • ChristelJ replied 2 years ago

The beautiful top and jacket certainly deserve to be worn! The abstract print on the top is divine; really striking, and suits you.

  • Janet replied 2 years ago

I love that tee! You find the best printed fabrics and then make such wonderful garments out of them. It makes me wish I had your skill. I have ideas and the most rudimentary sewing skills, but it would probably take me years to learn how to make anything decent. Maybe in my next life…

I love the jeans on you too. I have the Emersons in blue denim and wish white worked so well for me.

Wear the clothes indeed! Gorgeous Sharan!

  • kkards replied 2 years ago

FAB! All of it! And a big YAY to wearing the clothes!

Wow - such a pretty outfit!  Love it all, and I agree wth the others who noted your skill with proportions and print.

  • Runcarla replied 2 years ago

The colours and pattern suit you to a ‘T’.  Do keep this top in rotation!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

Wow, thank you everyone, for all the kind words!

Janet, you can admire my sewing, and I will admire the art you make with you camera!

  • unfrumped replied 2 years ago

That T shirt on you, made by you! Too plonkin’ fabulous.
