NAS 2022

Here are some pics from the dressing rooms at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
I tried on a few blazers, looking for just the right boyfriend look that can be worn casually but not too oversized. I found one that I love--the 1.State, which I hadn't picked in my online persual. I bought two pullover sweaters, undies and bras. The unintended purchases that somehow followed me home are pajamas and two pairs of jeans. I really don't need more jeans, but I'm thinking I can retire some that I'm not wearing. I might only keep one of these.

1: What I wore shopping. Peacock blue pants and swirl-pattern t-shirt (made by me); white denim jacket (Banana Republic), white metallic sneakers (Paul Green); blush crossbody bag (Nordstrom).
2-5: The winning blazer (1.State)
3-4: Two other blazers I tried (Nordstrom and Open Edit). The Open Edit is a different color than what's shown online, a really pretty mauve shade.
8-10: Pullovers. I bought the Nordstrom Signature cashmere in purple dawn and the Vince funnel neck wool blend in silverstone. I passed on the Nordstrom Signature in gray heather (I tried it in one size too large, but I liked the Vince better anyway).
11-13: Mother Tomcat cropped straight leg jeans.
14-15: Rag and Bone Rosa ankle boyfriend jeans. I might not keep these.

It was fun to shop at the flagship Nordstrom. I browsed bags and shoes but didn't see anything I couldn't pass up. I also didn't get to see the Zella track suit in person, and the jacket is sold out. I won't lose sleep over it.

I ordered the Kiehl's body lotion, Caviar shampoo and conditioner, Olukai flip-flops, and a Zella tee online. I feel I kinda went crazy! But not too crazy.

I welcome your thoughts and questions, if I can be of help in your shopping decisions.

Edited to add: I also tried on the Vince and Theory blazers in Finds. The Vince is a beautiful dark olive, but the fit was off for me. The Theory was pretty, but I couldn't try it in my size, and I liked the 1.State better on me anyway.

Love love love the 1.State blazer on you, as well as the Mother crops! So good! Nice work!

  • Murph11 replied 1 year ago

Cute Z twist-back tee. Might need to add that in white to my cart.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thanks, Murph11! I saw the tee in person but had already tried on so much that I was tired. Once i got home i realized it was on my wish list so decided to get it. I think I'll wear it casually as well as for Pilates.

Glad you were able to shop in person and try things on. My favorites are the sweaters - especially love the funnel neck- and Mother's jeans. Between the 2 jeans above, in case you are keeping just one, I prefer the wash on the Mother jeans. And I'm sure the blazer will be a nice addition for you. Extra props for your nice homemade clothes too.

Thank you, delurked! I also like the Mother jeans best. I am a sucker for boyfriend style jeans, though, so I had to bring home the Rag & Bone, too. I'm so-so about the wash, too though, to be honest.

WOW! You look KILLER sensational in your #OOTD, the new jeans, STATE blazer, and all the pullovers! That's everything :)

The Vince is a top pick, and both pairs of jeans too! You wear dusty tones with the best of them, Sharan.

I agree with everything you purchased! The blazer is exquisite on you. Looks like it was made for you. The lilac pullover and the funnel neck look amazing as well as both jeans. I like the lighter wash best but the full length pants are such a great fluid fit that it would be hard to let those go. Fab haul!

Do those stance no shows stay on your heel? I bought some Zella ones a few years ago that work great but they don’t sell them anymore. Are the Chantelle’s the same as previous years? As far as you can tell? Thanks for sharing!!

ETA: your WIW is fantastic. Love it head to toe! I’m sorely tempted by that linen topper!

Angie, thank you!! You are too sweet. Now go back to your vacation! ;)

Kelly, thank you! I do find Stance stay up on my heels quite well. Better than others I've tried. Though I haven't tried some that come highly recommended (Bombas and another that escapes me at the moment). I like the weight of the Stance--not too thick--and no elastic welt to dig in to the foot. Yes, the Chantelles are the same, tried and true for me!

Very nice haul. Also: I love your own clothes, lol :)

Great selections! I have to admit though I am distracted because of my deep love for that tee in 11-15. Where is it from??

  • JAileen replied 1 year ago

Oh I wanted the swirl tee!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

The swirl pattern tee is a Sharan original... :)

  • kellygirl replied 1 year ago

    Thanks for the info, Sharan!

  • Joy replied 1 year ago

    Great selection!

Sharan, I looked at the pictures before I read your post and found my favorite items were the tee and teal pants!  Of course you made them! You are “sew” talented!  (It’s early so bad pun…)

Your short and layered hair looks very flattering. I’m not familiar with the hair/skin products you purchased, however, I sometimes use Supergoop Unseen sunscreen (and Sheer screen) and took advantage of the discounted prices during the sale (Sheer screen is not discounted).

You have had a great NAS! Enjoy you new items!

  • Kathie replied 1 year ago

You found the perfect jacket! Love how the sleeves looked both turned back and full length. The pullovers are both wonderful with your coloring. Have you tried the Alterna hair products? I'm looking for something new, and those look like a possibility.

  • Janet replied 1 year ago

I want a Sharan tee! :-D Such talent!

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

I’m with Janet..the swirl tee FAB!
I love the double breasted blazer on you! And that lilac/purple haze color is fab on you…the mother jeans fit great, and i like but don’t love the rag and bone jeans mostly because they are full length, are they a straight leg or do they slightly taper? This is just me, but I’m conflicted with jeans that taper, they are great with boots, but i find them hard to style with sneakers or flats, YMMV

Good choices all round, and I love the swirl top.  You have a great eye for what works for you.

  • Tanya replied 1 year ago

So nice to try items in person.  Love your choices, especially the Mother jeans.   I also want that tee you made :)

  • Lana replied 1 year ago

Nice choices! Glad you found so much that works.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Love the 1 State blazer on you and the Mother jeans -- that seems to be a really good brand for you. But you look great in all, jeans, just about. I like the other pair as well, but you might have other BF styles that work as well -- not sure.

The sweaters look beautiful as well. Great choices!

  • Indigoprint replied 1 year ago

For what it is worth I really like the rag and bone jeans on you. That particular wash looks especially good with your swirl T.

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

The blazer you picked is perfection on you! Wow, a clear winner. Both jeans look good but have different looks so it is really up to you which you like (or both). MBM tee is amazing on you!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thanks everyone, for the swirl tee love!

Thanks for the recs and the sweet comments, Staysfit!

Kathie, I have used these Alterna Caviar products a lot in the past. This shampoo and conditioner combo is really good with my wavy, fine hair. Lately I've been using and really liking the Love Curl products from Davines.

Star, that's so kind of you to say.

kkards, yes I think the Rag & Bone jeans are tapered. I also think, from the name, that they are supposed to be ankle length. Clearly not on me--ha! Probably they should be worn turned up, too, and I did try them that way after the photos.
Suz, I am kind of a sucker for boyfriend-fit jeans, and you are right, I might not need another pair right now. Indigoprint, I do like the color of them, even though I'm not super excited about the wash treatment.
The color, the length, and the slightly higher rise are what make this pair different than the ones I have. But I may return them and just keep Rag & Bone Rosa on my radar. I also think have seen a slightly higher rise Citizens of Humanity boyfriend cut that I would try if I stumbled across it in a color I would like.
My current boyfriend jeans are these, in Finds below. Plus an old pair of Fidelity ones that I no longer wear but can't part with for some reason.
