WIW: new sunglasses

I splurged on some new sunglasses. In the past, I've taken old eyeglass frames and had sunglass lenses put into them. This time I specifically bought sunglass frames and lenses. They are expensive, since they are prescription, and I wear progressive lenses. I'm hoping I won't tire of them too quickly.

I wore them to work yesterday. Photo 1 shows my whole outfit, and photo 2 is a selfie taken at the bus stop. Note: The lines across the glasses in selfie closeup are some kind of reflection, not bifocal lines!

The outfit: Long-sleeved, short swing dress in dark teal (OSKA, Varali), navy sneakers (Paul Green); layered necklaces (Madewell); gray leather backpack (Rebecca Minkoff); new sunglasses (Fendi).

Thanks for looking! I welcome any thoughts you wish to share.

You look awesome. You rock that dress, the shoes are perfect, and the sunglasses prove the point made about them over in the “what is glamour” post.

And we were just talking about glamour!

I have new prescription sunglasses on my shopping list. I hope I'm as successful as you've been.

You look great - I love the glasses.  Modern but not likely to date!!

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

You sure are the cool girl - they look great! I love prescription sunglasses. And I don’t care if they have a line.

WOW! Super fabulous sunnies! I love large glamorous sunglasses and looking at yours is such a treat. The style is modern classic and it will work with literally everything. They fit you beautifully! Perfect choice.
The outfit is great and the sunnies ad the perfect final touch.

Glamorous, I thought before reading any of the comments. Glamorous and mysterious, great choice.

    Thanks, all!

FashIntern and Jenn, thanks! I did read the glamour post, and while I didn't comment, my thought was that sunglasses and red lipstick can pretty much create glamour instantly.
I had glamour in mind when I was looking at sunglasses, too. I considered a different pair that was a big cateye shape, super cool looking--and very glamorous--but not something I would want to wear every day. These seemed a good look for providing some everday glamour.

Sal, thanks! That's what I'm hoping for --a bit of longevity.

Oh, JAileen, you made my day. I'm the cool girl--yay!

Katerina, thanks for your kind comments!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 5 years ago

    Thanks, Windchime!

In searching for a stock photo of the sunglasses online, I discovered they are listed as men's. Well, not anymore--LOL!

I really like these on you! They work well with your face shape.

I like your formula for glamour...I'll have to try it. It's easy, which is right up my alley. :)

Nice and BIG! Sunglasses definitely can be bigger than regular eye glasses. Nice!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 5 years ago

Thanks, Gigi and Smittie! I think they look especially big in the closeup, but I think that is partly a function of the camera angle. To me, they seem to look more proportionally accurate in the full-length photo. Still big, but not so overwhelming.

Agreeing with all the glamour comments! And prescription sunnies are definitely a worthwhile investment, i wear mine more than my regular glasses.

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Fabulous sunglasses! Love the dress, too, and your hair looks great. Is this a slightly different cut?

  • karen13 replied 5 years ago

sharp looking from head to toe. I just got prescription sunglasses and am sold. I didn’t splurge on frames as I need3d to be thrifty after buying a number of new pairs, and you are making me wish I had. I love the color and. Shape of those.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 5 years ago

    Thanks, all!
Kathie, thanks for the hair compliment. Yes, I've been wearing it in a shag cut for the last several months and am really enjoying it. I still have the length to put it up, which is nice.
Karen13, glasses are so expensive, I know what you mean.
Suntiger, I also have a pair of prescription glasses to wear while bicycling. I probably wear those almost as much as my regular glasses!
