WIW: my hostess shorts

This shorts outfit is for a day off, cooking quiche, and then hosting a casual family gathering for dinner. It's a very warm day, we have no air conditioning, and comfort was key.

The outfit: denim shorts (Kut from the Kloth, a few years ago); mauve floral cap-sleeve tee (made by me); metallic floral belt (Fossil); tan cotton jacket (Caslon)--worn this morning to do some errands, while the air was still somewhat cool; navy and tan satchel (Dooney & Bourke); pink, blue, and green crystal earrings (Dabby Reid); taupe lace-up sandals (P. Monjo); changed to ivory platform sandals (Naot) in the afternoon/evening.

If you think the tee looks familiar, I have another one with 3/4 sleeves out of the same fabric. I had fabric left over and thought it would be fun to have a summer version!

What do you all think? Not exactly June Cleaver (no pearls and pumps!), though I did wear an apron while cooking.

    Really great!

Nice! I especially love it without the jacket to really show off the pattern of the top.

Looks great! I really love the version with the lighter footwear. I can see why you made an additional top with that lovely fabric!

Everything looks wonderful together. I really like the print of the tee with your dark shorts. YLF!

Perfect outfit for your day :)

I love the look with the jacket. Those shorts fit you to perfection, narrow opening and just the right length - I want a pair to fit me just like yours! Also admiring both pairs of sandals. You have such a great eye for fit and proportion.

Outfit 1 is beautiful! Really love the shoes in it and how it bookends your jacket. The color palette reminds me of E (Where is E anyway?). Very old English and sophisticated.

Why is it that whenever I read your WIW's, I always LOVE the one part of your outfit that turns out to be designed and made by you?  You have an AMAZING eye and talent!  I love your outfits, but REALLY love the pieces you have made yourself.  Any chance we will find you in stores soon? :)

    Thanks, everyone!
Gracie, thank you--how kind! I admire your style, too, so I think we're in the mutual admiration society.
Neel, yes, the colors have a kind of old fashioned feel, don't they? I think it's the mauve, especially.
Theodora, how nice of you! But no, I'm not planning to go into business in the foreseeable future.
