WIW: midi dress and stompy boots

I tried Angie's outfit formula of Midi Dress and Stompy Boots. I had tried this dress and boots together in the past but didn't really like the look; I switched to some tall boots instead. This time I decided it was okay, and I wore the outfit to work.

The outfit: Olive lantern-shaped dress and brown-black boiled wool asymmetric vest (both OSKA); print Doc Martens in olive and brown tones.

I might wear this outfit again. I think I need to shorten the dress by a few inches. It's kind of a chore, so I keep putting it off.

Thanks for looking! I welcome any thoughts you might have.

Oh I very much like this. It’s artsy and polished at the same time. Has a certain minimalist quality.

I really like this! I agree that you could shorten the skirt somewhat; that said, you've got the height (or apparent height, at least!) to pull off the longer length well. The vest is awesome on you! And - is your hair style different?

I love every inch of it. I don't blame you for putting off shortening that dress.  I don't think it looks terrible and this length, and it seems like a pain, given the lantern shape.

Thanks, all! Yes, Torontogirl, I have gone short with my hair. It changes a little bit with each trim, as the stylist does something a little different each time. (Also, my wavy hair does its own thing each day, presenting me with its own little surprises.)

This look is working beautifully for you!

This is at the same time very trendy modern, avant garde and artsy-bohemian. Well done! You look to me like you could come right from an Olars Ulla catalouge (Swedish artsy, fairy tale, avant garde, bohemian, wool, designer-retailer. I'll add pics!). It also has a 90's retro vibe to it. This same outfit could also be on Zara right now. Very cool!

I really love this. It's funky and sophisticated. Looks amazing on you, and so does your hair.

I love this!  The colours are gorgeous together.  You carry that look so well.  Those Doc Martens are TDF!  Great hair.

I like the vest with that dress a lot, and your hair looks great! It definitely looks like it would be challenging to shorten though.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your nice comments!
Synne, how kind of you, and thanks for introducing me to those designs. I hadn't heard of Olars Ulla.
Suz, I like "funky and sophisticated." Maybe that could be my new style descriptor.

Noticed your hair right away and loved: my wavy hair does its own thing each day, presenting me with its own little surprises. I am with you sister!
Outfit is excellent. I am not sure the skirt needs hemming, but I defer to your judgment.
I think the reference to Olars Ulla, whom I hadn't heard of, is spot on. Suz's funky and sophisticated is great too.

You look terrific. Now I want an lantern dress and vest to wear with my stompy boots. Love the new short hair!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

Jaime, ha! High five. As long as I have a good cut, I am generally okay with whatever the hair decides to do.
Thanks, Bonnie! Glad to inspire you.

I just love this and think the length is just right. Great layering--that vest is awesome. Hair looks pretty terrific too. Nice to see you!

Wow, you look terrific, polish and so elegant. You really wear midi dress and stompy boots the best way, I am speechless. I like you hair.

I agree with all of the above: you look smashing. Hits arty cool out of the park and suits you beautifully.

    Love, love this look.

    Inspiring as always :)

I wouldn't shorten the dress but I'm only seeing photos.

Agree with the funky and sophisticated moniker, I think it's perfect. What great pieces these are! I actually kind of like the dress length as is.

  • Glory replied 4 years ago

This is a great outfit. I like the length of the skirt.

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

I think you look great. I don't mind the length of the dress but I have a sugar eye for that sort of thing. Those Docs are outstanding too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

Wow, thank you, everyone, for the kind feedback!

KILLER Arty Elegance at its best. You wear this vibe with the best of them, sweet Sharan.
