That olive moto jacket was meant for you and what a gorgeous fit and color. You have such an incredible eye for blending textures and colors in your outfits and each look amazing. I adore that cardigan in the first four photos. So glad your moto is out and about.

I agree the olive moto jacket is wonderful on you. it is like you were the fit model for it. both outfits are awesome. Do you ever wear the moto as an indoor topper?
-
Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago
Thanks, Vicki and Frannie!
Frannie, I haven't worn it that way yet, but I imagine I will. I bought it with the idea of wearing it both indoors and out, like I do my jean jacket.

I really like the first one, the chunky raw cardigan under the moto is a nice contrast.

I got the petrol version of this jacket. It proved a good color with my eyes. The olive is perfect on you. The leather is so nice and soft. It's not really warm enough to wear it yet but I put this puffer vest underneath just because I am so sick of real coats.
Maybe you should use your jacket for Angie's olive and black look, too, though that may not be as soft as your usual looks.

Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago
Thank you, Anna! I thought it was a little different twist--homespun cardi + moto.
UmmLila, I'm so excited you got the petrol one! I tried that color first--it was the one that drew me in. I found two different shades of blue, though, and the one I liked best on me wasn't available in my size. That's when I discovered the olive one. . . . Love yours with that vest--what a great idea. I also like your idea to try Angie's ensemble with my jacket. I have so much olive and black I could do at least a week's worth of that ensemble! Hey, maybe that's a challenge idea.

Beautiful moto jacket, and I love these stylings. Both the cardigan and the Hinge pullover have very nice texture, and your Hudson jeans look fab on you. Enjoy the new jacket!

You are such a curator of your own wardrobe. I love seeing what you put together. No false notes, and each element deeply considered. A commitment to and an enjoyment of the aesthetic process in itself, rather than clothes-anxiety. You mentioned in another thread that you aren't tall ... really? I seriously thought you were about 5'11". Guess that shows what great fit and knowing your proportions can do. I know you make some of your trousers, but with jeans, do you usually tailor them a bit, or find them with a great fit to begin with?

Fantastic. Love the olive. And the heavy knit sweater as a layer is so sweet! Lots of nice elements in this look. Really, really great! I really like the cognac belt in the first with the olive. And how tall are you??
-
Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago
Thanks, Windchime!
gauche, I'm so flattered by your comments. I am average height, barely 5'5". I almost always hem my flared jeans or pants, but I rarely do other alterations on pants. I don't enjoy alterations, and as a sewer, I'm a little leery of having other people do them for me!
AM, cross-posted with you--thanks! And height revealed above. :)

Wow Sharan, what an artist you are. You've given me lots of ideas to change up the way I wear my motos! Love the olive option for you too. Aren't your tall Donald Pliner boots olive as well? I need to go sweater shopping with an eye to more neutrals as you do.

What a great moto! I like it in the first one where you can really see it. I do love the color of the scarf in the second one too.
-
Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago
Thanks, Ann-- I am happy to know I've inspired you! Yes, my Donald Pliner tall boots are olive (and I also have them in black from a previous year).
Thanks, Jaime. I prefer the first outfit, too, looking at the photos.

it HAS been great moto weather, hasn't it? And the brilliant Spring weather will continue for another two days. *happy dance*
Your looks here = Tomboy Pretty with Arty Sass.
Boyish, yet soft and soothing too.

So cheering to be able to wear more Spring-like layers and enjoy a bit of sunshine.
I'm always happy to see your beautiful olive moto - I think it would enhance any almost colour combination. It was so fab with your wine/fuchsia top a few weeks ago. Here it's great with your neutral sweaters. In your second outfit I like how your olive-grey belt picks up the colour in your beautiful olive and teal scarf. Two really lovely outfits.

Ahh the weather has been amazing! I can't get over having actual nice spring weather in March. Soooo weird. (Of course I'm stuck working inside all weekend, but I am enjoying seeing the sun out the window ^^) Adore outfit #1 on you, as Anna said the texture contrast is really great. Also really fond of seeing the curved back hem of the sweater under the moto in outfit #2. I think I'd prefer that outfit without the scarf, though. Or maybe with the scarf tied more infinity style so more of the sweater shows (so there's more lightness).

I'm so glad to see you wearing your new moto! It looks great with all the pieces you've picked here. I am jealous of your weather. More snow today for us. I wonder if we will ever see Spring?!
-
Sharon replied 9 years ago
Both of these look great. I'm with Anna - the knit peeking out from under the moto is just fab!
-
Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago
Ruth, thanks for your vote of confidence on the jacket color. I think this color will be better for me than a black one would have.
Aida, I was stuck working today, too, but got off in time to catch some daylight at the end of the day--a nice change. Thanks for your idea on the scarf--I think I'd like that look better, too.
Staysfit, I feel for you! Hope your spring comes early and makes up for the dreadful winter you all have had.
Thanks, Sharon!

5'5 are you kidding?? What!! I'm shocked. I need to pick my lower jaw from off the ground. You must have long legs. I thought you were 5'8 or 5'9. This is unbelievable. Cheers to the power for a long (a very long) line. Mind blowing...

What, no MBM items? Only joking :) The moto is perfect for you. I love the interesting layers and textures and I particularly like the olive and teal scarf with the 'salt and pepper' mix knit. Aren't those new nude booties fab too!

That olive jacket was meant for you! The contrast with the chunky sweater is perfect. A bit unexpected to me which I why I probably like it so much.
I feel exactly the way you do about alterations. I just took a blazer to have the sleeves altered (J.Crew, they don't charge for alterations or I would have just done it myself). I tried not to seem mean, but I was very "I want it done this way and not that way" - I am very leery of having anyone else take needle and thread to my clothing!

Love love LOVE that jacket! You do really well picking colors and textures that complement your hair texture, color, and skin tone.

Great outfits! The moto is a great color on you. I like the layered look of outfit #1 and the scarf in #2 is quite dramatic against the neutral sweater.

I loved this moto when you posted pics when you bought it and love it even more now.You look fabulous today in your moto and knit. I'm a big fan of your style Sharon....the colours, textures, proportions, shape, fit....you really understand what works on your body and do it all so well. Like AM I am surprised by your height.....you always appear taller with your clever use of colour.

Is it ever moto weather! You look fantastic! I agree - it's so great over the knit cardi. Add me to the list of stunned people over your height. I thought you towered over me and I'm just shy of 5'8". You photograph so tall and so well all the time (not saying you are short at all, I just thought you were much taller, ie closing in on 6ft)
