WIW: denim jacket Burberry style

When Angie posted this ensemble, I knew I wanted to try it. Finally had a chance to do it today. Hoping it looks like the Burberry treatment and not just "a little old lady in tennis shoes." Although that's not half bad in itself, I think. I hope to be on the go in my tennis shoes for years to come!

The outfit:
Black and white wavy print knit skirt with mesh knit trim (made by me); denim jacket buttoned up (AG); black and white snake-print sneakers (Mephisto); black packable raincoat (Cole Haan); espresso and black satchel (Joy Gryson, Natalie).

Thanks for looking! I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

Nice Sharan!  And no, you don't look like a little old lady in tennis shoes :)  I'm waiting to try this look myself - it struck a chord with me when she posted it a couple of weeks ago because it was so different.  I'm dying to try it .I have the pieces, just need the weather!

Totally cool and fun!  I love the black and white echoed from head to toe.

Oh, this is so cool! I love your version. Fab sporty style!

(Thanks for the thumbs up on the boots, btw! I am glad that you didn't notice the "winging.")

This is completely cool.  Makes me want a denim jacket!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Wait, I don't know what the Burberry treatment is. And although we're supposed to be looking at the denim... the sneakers and skirt got me all excited! No just-waiting-for-death-or-mushy-oatmeal-whichever-comes-first in the slightest.

I like it! The shoes and skirt complement each other beautifully. I also think the mesh trim on the skirt is an inspired sporty-chic touch.

  • AM replied 9 years ago

Ditto about liking the look and the chic mesh trim on the skirt. Well done! Sporty-chic (per Suz) for sure!

Very chic.  Love the shoes and skirt together.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

So fun! Particularly like the bit of sheer trim on the skirt.

Love the whole thing, especially the skirt/sneaker interplay. That's such a great skirt, period. And the denim jacket fits you perfectly. Was it comfortable to wear all day?

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

Definitely works. It's actually pretty close to perfect.

    Love!!

Your buttoned jacket fits you beautifully. Lovely skirt, cool shoes, and trendy denim jacket. If this is little old lady style, bring it on! :)

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Perfect! Cannot say it longer or  better, sorry:-)

  • replied 9 years ago

Wow, your jacket fits you like, perfectly.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

FC, so cute! Seriously loving those sneaks. No way are you a little old lady!

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

    Wow. Super copycat.
I think you should show some wrist.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Thanks, everyone! It was fun to copy this look.
Rachylou, by Burberry treatment, I just meant the denim jacket buttoned up and worn like a shirt, a la Angie's ensemble.
gauche, it was plenty comfortable for work. The jean jacket is a very soft, stretchy denim that is comfortable to wear. However, I did come home and change into cords and a cashmere sweater. So, it wasn't as comfortable as those items, I guess!
unfrumped, I did roll up my sleeves in the afternoon.

Love, love, love! That skirt is like a gorgeous marble. I could look at it all day. That outfit looks so put together on you and so spunky too. I can't wait to try out that formula. You picked a great pair of kicks for that skirt, btw.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Once again I'm admiring your dressmaking prowess Firecracker.....your skirt is so lovely and the star of your outfit. You look hip, comfortable and put together.....a far cry from "an old lady in tennis shoes."
