WIW: another dress over pants--the work version

Working at OSKA Seattle, the dress code is to wear clothing from the store/company. Here is my work version of a dress over pants outfit. I bought the caftan dress with the idea in mind that it can work alone as well as over pants or leggings, say, when the weather is cool. I like that it has sleeves, and it is easily layered over an insulating tee, for wearing in the air-conditioned store. I've worn it a few times already on its own as a dress, and over footless tights, with sandal-booties. Today I tried it with pants, and I quite liked it. The look does add some bulk to my frame, but I'm hoping it was JFE (just flattering enough).

The outfit (worn to work):
Black lightweight linen caftan dress (OSKA, Taja dress); black lightweight cotton rolled-hem trousers (OSKA, Tertia trousers); black layering tee (Tees by Tina); pink, white, gray, and maroon stripe scarf (Halogen, painterly wave wrap); pink sneakers (Ellen Degeneres, Chapalove); pink and brass necklace (Madewell, radiate necklace set); not shown: nude pink tote bag.

Thanks for looking! I appreciate any feedback you'd care to give.

I like the look, specially how you added the pink sneakers and accessories (I am a fan of the maximal look, so I love the  necklace and the scarf worn together)

    Thanks, Dianna!

Great look I like combination with pink, black and pink are lovely color combo, especially love scarf and necklace.

Ooh I love this! Wonderful styling. This is a silhouette I find very attractive. I recently bought a Japanese inspired dress a little similar to this and I think I will try pants with it thanks to your inspiration xx

FUN '80s and 90's redux. Great scarf and sneaker complement. Pink looks fresh and pretty. Nice with your grey hair.

Are these pink sneaks working out, Sharan?

As Angie said, this is fun and the blush takes it to another level. Can you also wear the dress open down the front like a duster? I did that yesterday with a black linen dress over slim denim crops and a black crochet/lace top over a black tank, and liked the look. A summer scarf denim blue, black and white worked well but ended up tied to my bag.
I especially like your necklace/scarf/bag compliment.

    Thanks, Mirjana!

Deborah, I'm so flattered to have inspired you. Thanks for chiming in.

Angie, thank you! These sneakers are much better. I really loved the style of the Eccos more, but I need to be able to walk in them. I can't quite bring myself to part with the Eccos yet, but I should let them go. Not sure where, though. I hate that I wasted my money on them.

Joy, thank you! I like the duster idea. This dress is only open at the neck, though. It has a slit, down to just below the bustline, and it's closed with two buttons and loops, sew on the inside of the slit.

I want to strip down the trousers, but that's probably because it's 30°C here today and your look feels too wintery.
I love the dress on you.

     Send the sneaks to DFS.

YAY. Fun pink sneaks. I love mine too. High five.

    All great pieces!

Skylurker, yes, if it were really summer here, I wouldn't wear the pants or the 3/4-sleeved layering tee underneath. I wore a light long coat over the outfit, too, for my commute.

Thanks for the idea, Angie. They're not exactly work shoes, but maybe DFS would want them.

    Thanks, Rachy!

You have the style to pull off a dramatic look and make it seem relaxed and elegant!  I love the dusty rose touches!  Do you have a blush cami?  that would be nice with the sneaks when it's warmer outside, too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

I like that idea, Beth Ann. I have a pink tank that could work nicely. A blush cami is something I can keep an eye out for!

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

DFS would LOVE them. Corner of 5th and Seneca.

Angie, it's very close to where I work, too--easy to drop off before work! I emailed them today to see if they're taking donations (website says they halted till sometime this month).

Beth Ann, I just found a light pink cami by Halogen--one of Angie's picks here. Yay!
