Sweater vest-classic formula

I mentioned on Angie's post that I had just bought a sweater vest from Madewell. I really like it for its cozy, soft feel and the easy, boxy fit with extended shoulders. This is the second time I've worn it, in the past couple of weeks. It seems like the kind of knit that may pill, but I'll happily wear it until that time.

This outfit is a version of Angie's Classic formula, #3, though my shirt is a little twist on classic, with its cowl neck and uneven hem.
The outfit: Cowl-neck, high-low hem big shirt in coordinating box and dot prints (made by me, Sewing Workshop Icon Shirt pattern); dark wash boyfriend jeans (AG); navy sweater vest (Madewell); cream loafters (27 Edit). I added my blush lightweight jacket and blush cross-body bag to go out.

Questions and comments welcome, as always!

This looks great! Now I want a sweater vest just like the one you are wearing. Your blouse is beautiful, too.

    Thanks, you two!

Oh, very nice. Somehow, I don’t find vests are easy to style but you’ve done great. It’s a lovely outfit.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thank you, Irina. For me, they have to be somewhat loose.

This is really good styling - love the non-traditional blouse as the base .

    KILLER

    Welcome to Team White Loafers!

Perfect for our VERY mild Seattle Fall weather. (Once again, record-breaking). Your wardrobe is full of unique Sharon-made-stash, and it's delightful :)

    Loving your short haircut too!

Beautiful blouse!  I love how you style your outfits.  You have great jeans and footwear, as always.

Love the silhouette of the vest. I am in a very extended shoulder state of mind lately :) . Outfit is excellent!

Thank you, Nikki, StyleFan, and Jaime!

More love for that shirt and the way the sweater vest pulls it all together. YLF.

This is a great outfit, and I love that rain jacket.  Hair is looking particularly fab!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thanks, Carla! I appreciate the hair affirmation. I recently started styling it just a little bit differently, more forward than back, and I'm liking it.

    Love.

This is lovely, as usual. Classic and trendy with an avant edge. That print is amazing. I am zooming in to see what you did with the shirt pocket.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Nice -- I love the cut/ shape of it -- it has a bit of edge!

  • Kate replied 1 year ago

Love the shirt! And the loafers! I don't find vests easy to style, but yours looks great with the shirt. An enviable outfit all around and very you.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thank you, kkards, approprio, Suz, and Kate!
Approprio, the pocket treatment is cool and unusual. The pattern included it. The lower edge is just a big flap.

  • approprio replied 1 year ago

Ooh that is interesting! Thanks for the pic.

I like the idea of a vest but never know how to style them. You’ve done it well here.

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

I see you have a vested interest !

  • Karie replied 1 year ago

I love the you-made blouse, and the vest adds another layer of fabness. We’ll done!

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

Great vest and styling! I also like a boxy style for a vest. It's very fun with your interesting shirt.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Thanks everyone! And thanks for the laugh, Cee!

    My pleasure :D
