Picasso Challenge: The Dream

Picasso Challenge, day 5, painting 5, The Dream. . . .

The outfit (worn to work):
Sage empire waist sleeveless knit dress with high-low hem (Eileen Fisher), worn over sheer ivory dot-mesh knit tee (made by me); bright coral 3/4-sleeved cardigan (Halogen); gold shimmer nude fishnet tights (Commando); taupe cutout booties (Kork-Ease, Stina); green, brown, and blue stone (Jasper?) beaded necklaces (made by me); olive packable coat (Laundry by Shelli Segal); taupe shoulder bag (Aunts & Uncles).

I went for a sheer top and worked with the colors in the wall (or is it floor?) and chair. I added the beads to echo the woman's beads in the painting, and I found I really liked them with the outfit.

Photo 3 is my dreaming pose. :)

Sharan, you really captured the colors and mood of the painting, especially with the sheer top. Love the dreaming pose too.

Sharan, you captured the mood with the sheer, drapey fabrics and that vibrant coral. I don't think I've ever seen you wear that colour before, but it looks great on you. Or perhaps I have seen it before on you but it wasn't playing such a "star" role. Interesting how our perceptions of an item can change depending on how it is styled and what its companions are.

Nice! I like the sheer top and the shimmer on the tights, which capture the ethereal mood of the picture.

The colours call to mind Angie's red/brown challenge from a while back, which is funny because I used her citron/cognac combo for this one. I think I see where Angie gets her colour inspiration from...

A lovely interpretation of the painting, Firecracker. Your dreaming pose made me smile :)

Absolutely captured the mood this with the lines and the color. That dress is fabulous!

Absolutely killer. Your BEST of the challenge. Your dreamy look is adorable.

Sharan, you look amazing in coral. SO different for you. Yet you rock it.

Really love the coral and olive together (coral is so great on you as everyone has said), and like the unexpected effect of the ethereal under-layers of the sparkly hose and sheer top.

Oh wow. First class. You've really captured it.

I love the way the red cardigan mimics the red chair in the painting, great idea there.  And the dress with its high low hemline is so pretty and flattering on you, I don't recall seeing this on you before but it's a winner.

    Thanks, everyone!
Suz and Angie, I have worn the coral sweater before, and I also have an Eddie Bauer trench in exactly this color. It's a super bright coral--the color in photo 2 is the closest to the shade in real life. (It's not the color of the one in the Finds; mine is from a previous year.) I always end up trying to doctor the color in the photos I take, because it doesn't photograph well. (It ends up glowing too much, like red sometimes does on TV.) It's a color that is supposedly not in my palette, but I love wearing it in spring and summer, and I do find it curiously flattering on me. I just got these sandals below in a very similar color, a bright red-orange IRL. (Love them, and I can imagine wearing them with virtually all of my summer clothes, if we in fact have summer this year.)

Rabbit, thanks--I haven't worn the coral sweater with any of my olive or sage pieces before this. I quite like it, too.

Denise, I've had the dress going on three years now. I don't wear it often, mainly because I don't wear dresses that often.

approprio, I wouldn't have guessed, necessarily, that Angie is a fan of Picasso, but it doesn't surprise me. His art seems in keeping with her aesthetic character, I think.

Fantastic! I like the touches of the tights and sheer top, lovely.

The shoulder of your cardigan really recalls the corner of the chair in color and shape. The color combination is excellent on you too. Great outfit!

Oh, my gosh, Shevia, you're right. I hadn't noticed that little element.

Fab! Love the coral on you! I did a double take at #3 then realized it was for the artwork and had a little giggle. Fun and so well done!!,
