WIW: sweaters & boots

I'm catching up with a few outfit posts here. The daily theme this past week has been staying warm during some unseasonably chilly weather.

The outfits:
1 (worn to work in the evening): brown long sleeved tee (Caslon) under handknit boxy blue-green sweater with mismatched, uneven buttons (Amy Brill); cropped wool pants with tapered legs (made by me); taupe nubuck booties (Paul Green, Jano). I wore the same thing earlier in the day, before work, with jeans instead of the wool pants.

2 (worn to work): black and white wool tweed pants (Classiques Entier); reptile print silk tee in blues, greens, and black on ivory (made by me); black boiled wool bomber jacket with faux leather sleeves (Halogen); black booties (Munro, Grace).

3-4 (worn to work): black and silver knit lantern-hem dress (Comfy USA); black shredded-knit cocoon shrug (made by me); black distressed suede boots (Donald J. Pliner, Devi); black long coat (Gallery); purple hobo bag (Kate Spade).

5-7 (worn for a day off and out to dinner and a movie): black skinny jeans (Eileen Fisher); black and gray abstract starry print tee (made by me); sage merino boyfriend cardigan (Halogen); black belt with brushed silver buckle; olive distressed suede boots (Donald J. Pliner, Devi); brown and gray wool coat with back pleat (made by me); taupe shoulder bag (Aunts & Uncles).

8-9 (worn for a day off): black skinny jeans (Eileen Fisher); black tee (Caslon) under black, tan, and brown animal-print fuzzy cardigan (Free People); tan belt with brushed silver buckle (Trafalgar); key pendant on brown leather; black distressed suede boots (Donald J. Pliner, Devi).

I felt better wearing some of these outfits than I feel about the photos of them. Isn't that often the case? I will say that outfit 5-7 is my favorite of the bunch. It was an outfit of favorite items that I felt happy wearing.

I welcome any thoughts or suggestions for improvement. Thanks for looking!

Whoa! You have some gorgeous outfits here! Do you knit too? The buttons on that sweater are so arty cool. I love it. Fun silhouette! You rock the skinnies--I have to say I really like that leopard like peint sweater on you. Super sleek! Lantern dress is amazing. Love the diversity of the outfits--all are so interesting and super stylish! Great week!

Omgoodness Sharan, what a week! To start with, the first one took my breath away. Love love love. That sweater is amazing, and I think you got the proportions of the fluid over volume just right. Rolling your pants to show off your booties as well... Adds that little bit of extra interest and structure. Genius. Also loving the one you did, 5-7, and the last. That safari cardigan is amazing on you, esp worn like this, very flattering.

they all look good, and warm, but #8/9 is my fav. i think its maybe my favorite of anything that you posted! the colors and silhouette and fab on you!

Another nice , diverse group of outfits!  I particularly like 1, and 8/9.  The sweater in 8/9 is so wonderful on you colour wise and silhouette-wise and I can't really explain why I'm drawn to #1 as it certainly is out of my comfort zone, but I really like the way you look in it.  The best I can come up with is : you are very slim, and it is nice to see a bit of ankle, skin, less fabric etc in certain places to show that off.  The pants being shorter and tapered at the bottom show you have a nice slim leg and ankle under there:)  (as opposed to a long looser full length pant)

These are great outfits!  I especially like the animal print sweater in #8/9 and the green sweater in #1.  Those buttons are so fun and interesting.

5 and 8 are my favorites, and wow, you knocked it out of the park with 8! I love how the butternut color in that fab sweater picks up your hair color and then is echoed by your belt and boots.

You look terrific in all of these. I am completely blown away by 8/9. Amazing sweater over the column of black, love the cognac belt, the pendant - all of it!

OMG, no wonder 5-7 is your favourite. Those boots are killer on you! You were so smart to duplicate because when you find something that brilliant, it simply "belongs" to you!  I equally love 8/9 -- the leopard sweater is such a fun statement!

I also like #1. It showcases your slender shape and feels architectural and almost Japanese. :)

Thanks, everyone! You are making me feel better about my winter wardrobe. It's heartening to see these outfits through your eyes! I'm encouraged to see some of you like #1. I wasn't so sure about the cropped pants; I really like the idea of them, but I think they will take some getting used to.

Kelly, I do not knit; the sweater is a store-bought hand-knit. I do like this designer for her choice of yarns and her boxy, funky styles.

You do not miss a beat Sharan!  Such fabulous and very you outfits. I may have to commission you for a pair of those crop pants in #1... I cannot take my eyes of them:)  You definitely have that arty/edgy bent.  Love all of these.

Although a bit more boho, this set of outfits somehow evoke Katharine Hepburn to me.  YLF.

Glad you like the pants, Deborah!
Museumgal, I'm flattered to evoke Katharine Hepburn in any way!

5-7 are also my favorites! But I really love #1 and #3 too. Suits your style personality beautifully! Great set of outfits!

What a great week for you firecracker!  I LOVE #9 though - wow, just love it on you. Something about the warm cognac tones just works so great with the black and the way it works with your hair. Really beautiful.
