WIW: the oxfords I have

I'm continuing to audition metallic or taupe oxfords to add to my wardrobe. Meanwhile, I have these tan Born Arlettas (three or four years old) that are easy to wear, especially now that I have a tan belt and a couple of bags that coordinate with them.

The outfits:

1-3 (worn for a day off, and a trip to see the otters--otherwise known as a visit to the aquarium!): white boyfriend jeans (Kut from the Kloth, Catherine); blue, slate gray, taupe and off-white blurry-print knit top (made by me); tan belt (Trafalgar); weathered tan oxfords (Born, Arletta); brown stone and silver necklace (gift); hammered silver half-hoop earrings (Marjorie Baer); olive jacket (Laundry by Shelli Segal); navy and tan satchel (Dooney & Bourke). I rolled the pant legs this time; they looked a little short to wear down, as in the previous day's post.

4-8 (worn for a day off and piano lesson): black and white strip knit tee (Caslon); black, gray, and white snakeskin print cotton cardigan (Foxcroft); tan belt (Trafalgar); dark straight-leg jeans (Kut from the Kloth, Stevie); weathered tan oxfords (Born, Arletta); brushed silver dangle hoops (Marjorie Baer); black packable travel coat (Cole Haan); black and brown snake print cross body bag (Aimee Kestenberg). I showed the back of the coat, as it has a tie that I really like, and the hem dips down in back.

Thanks for looking! Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

Definitely enjoy those oxfords. They look fab in both outfits. In most cases, I'm really drawn to the high contrast white bottoms with the brown but I like the low contrast equally in your case. The low contrast darks look so rich and luxe! Good luck on the hunt for metallic oxfords. I think those are going to be a wonderful addition to your wardrobe. You can't wear the Paul Green sandal booties in the winter where you live anyway!  Fab x 2!

Love the t and jacket pairing in 5 and 6 - and that handbag is fantastic!  What a unique piece - adds such a personal touch to an outfit.  Beautiful.

The weathered tan oxfords look great with the white jeans. Your KUTs fit you like mine fit me - a true BF fit. I wasn't sure if I cared for that at first, but now I love it.

Both outfits are fab but #1 is my fav. The blue and gray in your top looks fantastic with your white jeans.

You look super, Sharan. I especially like #3 and #4. Enjoy those old oxfords. xo

    The oxfords look great.

Both outfits are great, and I especially like the version in #3. The oxfords look great with the white jeans, great color pairing. And I know that they are comfy too, as I have them in a lighter color.

Great outfits.  It is so nice to have an item that already works while you are looking for its replacement.  These are great!

FC, have you tried the Vince Camuto oxfords? I keep meaning to ask, so my apologies if I have already. I recently got them, they are awesome. Wore them all day, no socks, right out of the box. They are a grey patent rather than metallic, but I actually like that, less "in your face".

Oh, and you look amazing, as always...

Your old oxfords look perfectly current and terrific in these outfits. I especially like them with the long blue jeans - or maybe it is just fun to see people wearing full length jeans after so long!

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your comments and encouragement.

Elizabeth, I did not try the Vince Camuto pair. I thought they ran narrow, and I wasn't looking for patent--that said, I did order Doc Martens in a similar color of patent leather (although I returned them). I think I've found what I'm looking for, but I have to wait to see them in person (I've ordered them)--the Naot Kedma that Angie featured, which turned up in a gray shimmer leather. And I'm hanging on to the Paul Green Addly in taupe, which I also really, really like. I'll only keep one pair, though.

chic, chic, chic! I am looking for some oxfords myself. They are like hens teeth (impossible to find) in my size!  Love that top! Where do you find your fabric??

  • jackiec replied 10 years ago

You always look so great! That is a fab cost in 3/4 - I like the dip in the back too! Good luck on the silver/grey oxford hunt too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Quietgirl, I think I got that one at Nancy's Sewing Basket in Seattle.

    Thanks! 100% cotton or blend?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Quietgirl, It's a rayon lycra blend. I also shop online for fabrics at Marcytilton.com, emmaonesock.com, and sewingworkshop.com.
