WIW: slouchy jeans and cardigan

Today I made a point of wearing favorite pieces, after yesterday's outfit that felt just slightly out of character. These jeans and cardigan are super comfy, and I like their laid-back style. The tee and sweater are among my favorite neutral shades: dark olive and taupe. I added a favorite belt and shoes. I almost added my olive coat but chose a bright one, to avoid adding yet another neutral and because it slides on easily over the sweater. I probably won't need the coat later in the day.

The outfit (worn for a day off and out to breakfast): skinny boyfriend distressed jeans (Silver, Lola Boyfriend Skinny); olive modal short-sleeved tee (Caslon); taupe and white cotton chunky hand-knit sweater (Amy Brill); pewter cutout belt (Fossil); bright coral coat (Eddie Bauer, Christine Trench); arty metal disk and greenish bead earrings; metallic cutout peep-toe booties (Paul Green, Tacey); taupe hobo bag (Aunts & Uncles).

Thoughts and suggestions welcome! Thanks for looking.

You have such an excellent eye for colour, Sharan. I love how you've paired the olive tee and taupe sweater with the cool-toned metallic booties. And the bright coral coat works splendidly with this outfit too. Those fab jeans fit you perfectly too.

You look cosy and comfy and I do love a red coat, the worlds always a brighter place with a red coat in it x

The pairing of neutrals and the addition of the metallic is stunning! You look cozy and stylish!

    Thanks, all!
Inge, your descriptions are a delight to read--I love your blogger features. What a treat to have your talents of observation turned to my outfit! :)
Louise, yes, the coat color makes me happy.
Kelly, thank you! I don't know how you have time to comment on so many outfit posts, but it's always nice to hear your thoughts!

LOL! I have lots of waiting around time. Keeps me entertained :)

what inge said.  i noticed that the belt peeking out seemed to tie in with the sweater and booties while the tee made it more interesting and less matchy matchy.

I am always impressed with what you put together.  The cardigan is beautiful.  Where do you find the buttons for your hand knitted items?  I really like the buttons on the cardigan.  They are fun and really give it character.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Staysfit, I bought the cardigan. I do not knit. The buttons are actually made by putting together two buttons--a large (1") mother of pearl button turned upside down, and a smaller (1/2" probably) white pearly carved button placed on top, both sewn on at once. Amy Brill uses this technique often in her sweaters; I've bought them at Renee's, a boutique in Everett, WA.

I just admire your style so much. Wish I had your flair.

Oh yeah, you got it! It's nice to fall back into something we know works. Love the slouch on those jeans - looks comfy.

One word comes to mind - perfect!

Really love those peep toes with this - those are beautiful shoes.  And I enjoy this coat each time you wear it - what a good buy that was!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

LOVE #1 especially. The texture of the shoes work so well with the texture of the cardi. I vote k-word worthy.

Great outfit with and without the bright trench!

Those jeans are all sorts of fabulous! They fit you perfectly. I also love the way the booties bookend that gorgeous sweater.

Now this feels like you to me, if that's possible - a bit of RATE, a bit of polished, a bit of edge.  Love the jeans and the use of color.

Ahhhh. Happy sigh. The bright coat now in your service, rather than the other way around. I see YOU and not the coat (or the shirt). And I see your incredible good taste in the mix of textures, and colours, and in the peeptoe booties, which are perfect with this.

It really is amazing what a difference just a few changes will make, right? This is brilliant.

Ooh I love this look! Very casual yet still has some polish! The jacket colour is gorgeous!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

    Thanks, everyone!
Suz, I am considering trying a different version of the white jeans outfit tomorrow (another day off), switching out the shirt to see what difference it makes. Fun with fashion!

You look happy in your own skin and I bet you felt great. Those booties take the whole outfit to a higher level of chic.

  • replied 9 years ago

Love the luscious textures FC. A fab look and very 'you'. Also echoing Louise about the red coat, great colour.

  • Lantana replied 9 years ago

I just checked out your post from yesterday and I'm thinking the metallic booties would look great with it.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Lantana, good thought! If I put my metallics with that white and blue denim outfit, it would feel a lot more like me, too.

    This looks very smart!
