WIW: one NAS purchase among other things

I've carried my new backpack bag from NAS a few times already. Today was one of them. Here's the outfit, along with others from the last few days.

The outfits:
1-3 (worn to work): sage cropped pants (Annette Goertz); blue & white stripe and blurry puzzle mixed print tee (made by me); cobalt blue 3/4-sleeved cardigan (Halogen); black and white snake print sneakers (Mephisto, Yael); light gray backpack bag (Rebecca Minkoff).

4-6 (worn to work): sage cotton knit high-low hem sleeveless dress with empire waist (Eileen Fisher); black lacy knit drape-front short-sleeved shrug (made by me); black and tan sandals (Naot); black and brown snake print cross-body bag (Aimee Kestenberg).

7-9 (worn for a day off, inspired by Frannieb's outfit here):  dark gray long shorts (Eddie Bauer chinos that I cut off & hemmed); cream burnout tee with tattoo print on front (One World); cream floral cutout belt (Fossil); orange cork wedge sandals (Kork-Ease); tan and black woven straw slightly-cowboy hat (Wallaroo); cream and taupe hobo bag (Fossil).

Thanks for looking! I welcome your comments and suggestions.

Ok, that tee made by you in 1 & 3 is fabulous. The sneakers bookend it beautifully. And the backpack bag is the frosting on top. I want that outfit.

Those are all great outfits! I love your grey backpack and same with your Mephistos. I also ordered a pair, I know they are very comfortable.

Great outfits and I just love your new backpack purse! Sporty fabness. You have great taste in footwear too. Your outfits are perfection from head to toe!

WOW!!! Nr 7 is K2K! Love that backpack, the sandlas, and the tee in nr 1-2 is TDF:-)

Great outfits.  You have the best footwear.  I love the orange sandals especially.

Great color choice for backpack! I find it versatike; my version of Angie's white. So fun how you can wear both your mousy colors and brights like cobalt. Fantastic mixed print T!

Also I have got to remember to consider making cut offs before tossing casual pants-- maybe even trousers! Sometimes the fit or style or even color palette issues would be different when they turn into shorts.

I was drawn in by that fabulous tee in 1 and 3, but all these are great looks.  I love that backpack, too.

Great collection of outfits. You style your clothing so well! 1-3 is bang on, but boy, do I ever love your shorts and colourful -T. LOVE the T!

You look great in every outfit, but that tee in #1-#3 is ultra cool.

I was just thinking this morning that I hadn't seen a WIW from you in a while, and I missed them!  (doesn't mean you haven't posted, but if you did I missed them)

I'm completely swooning over 4-6.  I think angles really suit you.  Also loving those orange shoes.  And the backpack.  and the tee.... in other words, great outfits!

That tee shirt you made is gorgeous. You outfits are all so inspiring.

The style and color of the EF dress is just wonderful on you!
I love your orange sandals, too--very fun burst of summery color!
And, as many others have written, the first outfit is smashing.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

You are casually chic, you gorgeous creature. I LOVE the white backpack, and the ultra casual outfit you are wearing with it. Very fun.

You are killer elegant in the second outfit, and simply adorable in the third. Don't you look smashing in a hat.

  • Marlene replied 8 years ago

Well, I had NO IDEA I wanted a backpack.  Now I do.  And can I just steal all your outfits?

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Fun as always Sharan! Going to have to join the chorus: fab handmade tee in the first outfit, the dress in the second is smashing on you, and you totally rock the hat in the third. I've not been into backpacks for my own style, but that dove gray one is about as close as I've come to changing my mind.

Are you managing your arty drape for the really hot days we've been having? I'd be curious to see some of those outfits if so :)

  • Staysfit replied 8 years ago

I think we're backpack twins, only you were smart and purchased yours at NAS prices! I have been enjoying mine for 5-6 months now. Mine is white. Is yours grey?

All your outfits look great as always! I love the mixed print tee you made. As always I am in awe of your skills!

  • frannieb replied 8 years ago

Great outfits and glad I could be inspiration to you - very flattered as I always love your outfits.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 8 years ago

All great, but I particularly like that cobalt on you ... Bit of a departure.

Thanks for your nice comments and support, everyone!
Joyce, high five on the sneakers!
unfrumped, when I cut off the chinos, I had to do some fussing with the taper at the hem. It's not as simple as it may seem, and yet it's worth the little bit of extra effort if you end up with a pair of shorts you really like!
Elizabeth, I did go for quite awhile without posting. I took a break from photographing my outfits, too. I did it for about a year and haven't figured out what, if anything, to do with the photos (e.g., organization, analysis, whatever).
Angie, I know you wore a hat on your Arizona trip, too. I got this one with my Europe trip in mind, and I wore it on the hot, sunny days, for sightseeing.
Marlene, you crack me up. Of course you need a backpack. You might need the black one.
Staysfit, high five! I like your taste in bags and shoes, among other things! My backpack is a light gray, called "ash."
Aida, the dress and shrug (outfit 2) is one that I wore on a super hot day. But there is A/C at work, so I actually got a little cool during parts of the day. My travel capsule for Europe ended up perfect for the heat wave there, full of light cotton and linen layers. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of the packing or the outfits in action. But I loved what I took, and the few items I bought there are nice hot-weather pieces, too. I hope to show them in outfits here sooner or later. :)
ummlila and unfrumped, thanks for the comments on the cobalt. I alternate between liking it and feeling like it's overpowering. I liked it in this outfit!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Ooh I like the sound of your Europe capsule. I'd planned to do light layers for summer but it's been too hot (can't complain about that ;) ) especially since I'm rarely in any sort of AC. I'm sure we've still got more than enough hot weather coming, looking forward to seeing what you bought ^^
