WIW: olive and pink

Suz reminded me this week of Angie's olive and pink ensemble. I'm often inspired by the ensemble posts, but if I don't use it immediately, I forget. I need some form of organization for keeping these ideas at my fingertips--for those days when I can't decide what to wear!

Olive and pink is what I'm wearing for a day of training at work. It could be cold or warm in the room (or both, as the AC goes off and on), so I like having a topper, although I don't like covering up the pink.

I went with Angie's suggested metallic option for shoes and belt.

The outfit: olive chinos with brass studs down the sides, tuxedo-style (Lucky); pink and green tie-dye effect tee (made by me); olive-y sage linen drape neck cardi (made by me); floral metallic belt (Fossil); pewter/light gold metallic flats (AGL); purple specs.

Thanks for looking! Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome!
(Gotta post and run now, but will be back later.)

Hah. How fun are those studded chinos? And self-made tie-dye is best. You look fabulous as always, Sharon. Eclectic Polished Boho. xo

What a beautiful blend of colours - so soft, yet by no means overtly feminine.  you look fantastic!

I love all parts of this outfit!!  I'm tempted to stud my own olive pants.  Great job on the tee as well.

Beautiful, flattering colors on you and the fit is spot-on.  Wish this outfit was hanging in my closet!

The tee is gorgeous on you! Beautiful look!

Love this. Your skills know no bounds!

Again, your mixing of off the rack and fresh off the serger is amazing! Love the tee especially. I love
Raglans and that one is especially fun with the different colored sleeve. Fab outfit!

    Gorgeous - YLF.

Great olive+pink look! I like it best without the topper so we can see that fabulous self-made top. Also, today's hair is extra sassy and fun :D

Thanks, everyone! You're all so kind.
Mo, that would be so neat if you studded your own chinos.
    Kelly, I'm a raglan sleeve fan, too--thanks!
Aw, Aida, that's nice to hear about my hair.

Wow! The pink is totally unexpected! Initially you wear wearing the cardigan and I thought, "huh? This is all olive!" Then I saw #2! I really like the placement of the pink. Very unexpected! You look fab!

You are a masterful tie-dyer as well as seamstress!  Your version of pink and olive is wonderful.  Thank you for posting it.

Polished eclectic boho - Angie's just right! I love this colour combination on you. The top is super fab. You did a beautiful job with it. It looks luxurious.

I was thinking exactly the same thing about the ensembles. There's actually a pretty good organization system on the blog itself, but I forget to go look there sometimes.

Oh, I have to set the record straight: Joy, I didn't dye the fabric; I bought it that way! (Angie, maybe you thought I dyed it, too.)

I love the asymmetric color on the tee! I'm always so impress by your handmade items, they always look great and modern (just like this outfit).

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

I love you asymmetrical tee. The linen in the cardi is excellent, too.  I'm guessing you have a quality serger?

And bedazzling the pants in such a chic way?  Absolutely!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

BethAnn, thanks! Yes, I have a combination serger and coverstitch machine, the Baby Lock Evolution. I didn't add the studs to the pants--they were there.

This looks great! Another tee that I want to order :-)
    Love the color combination.

    Happy, happy sigh. F.a.b.u.l.o.u.s!!!

I love the olive and green. The shirt is great. We are supposed to make tie dye shirts with our Bible School kids this year - any pointers to having such a fantastic one? vickie

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

I love this outfit!  the low-rise studded jeans are to die for and the raglan sleeve shirt is fantastic, you are a very talented seamstress.

  • replied 9 years ago

Oh, I love the one sleeve being a different colour! Your self made pieces are fab as usual and how about studded chinos! How fab. You look great FC.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Vickie, my tip is to start the tee with some tie-dyed-looking fabric that you love. LOL! I don't have the first clue about dyeing, unfortunately.

  • Day Vies replied 9 years ago

I love the tee! Olive and pink is such a lovely combination! I love the soft layers of the cardigan, but I actually prefer the outfit without it -- probably because I like the tee so much!

I think we are almost hair twins too- how fun :)
