WIW: drapey top, ankle pants, . . .

I saw Angie's ensemble post today after I got home from work. I realized 2 things: 1) I wore a version of the ensemble, and 2) I should have consulted the post before I left the house. :)

I tried the outfit 2 ways--one with the closest thing I have to ankle strap shoes and one with a high-vamped cut-out bootie. I wore it to work with the booties today. After seeing Angie's post and being reminded of Debbie's fab outfit, I thought my outfit could have really benefited from a great necklace. And actually I thought the same thing this morning as I was dressing--I tried two different ones and neither one left with me. I just couldn't seem to get the look I was after. I did wear my jean jacket over the tunic, which I quite liked, but it was my outerwear today; I did not keep it on indoors.

The outfit:
1-2, as I wore it to work: olive skinny boyfriend chinos with brass studs down the sides (Lucky); olive and white striped drapey tunic with shark-bite front hem and print neck and sleeve trim (made by me); taupe cutout booties (Kork-Ease, Stina).
3-4, the other version I tried: same outfit with taupe cross-strap flats (Naot).

I felt this outfit was comfortable and passable. I'd have liked it better with a jacket or vest, and/or with a statement necklace.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome! Thanks for looking.

It looks great Sharan. The tunic you made is just fabulous. I have a minor preference for the cut out booties with the outfit I think. Re-necklace. I'm guessing maybe a long pendant so that it didn't fight with the lovely detail around the neckline? I love the colours in this look BTW...just my cup of tea, so to speak.

Oh, btw, I'm guessing you've already seen the new range of Vogue patterns :

Nice! I prefer the booties but both are great. Awesome top you made! I was gonna say what Diane did for a necklace. Something long, maybe hitting at the bottom of your ribcage. Maybe something similar to this find in length and size?

This is a great outfit! I prefer the booties, and a longer necklace would look good too, although you don't really need one. Did you use a pattern for the top, and if so, do you mind if I ask what pattern it was? I want to make myself some long, drapey tops this summer.

I love the outfit. If you want a necklace I would go with a long pendant as suggested. Nordstroms has several on sale right now. I will try and add them to finds this afternoon from the lap top.

Both renditions are fab, Sharan. I slightly prefer the booties too.

Diane, thanks! Yes, I really like a lot of the styles Vogue patterns has out right now. I'm flattered you thought of me when you saw them. You are right--I needed a longer necklace than the ones I was trying on with the tunic. Wardrobe hole!

    Donna--that's a great necklace idea.

Karie, I used this Vogue pattern by Marcy Tilton.

Thanks, Debbie, I'll check out the Nordstrom sale.

Angie and all, I'm glad to hear the slight preference for the booties. I was thinking the flats might be more in keeping with the ankle strap proportions, but the booties were super comfortable for the day.

Great outfit! I like the pattern mixing built into the shirt. The fit and proportions of both shirt and ankle pants look really good on you.

I like it with the booties, and I don't think you need a necklace.  I'd be concerned it would mess with that gorgeous cool neckline.

That tunic is really really awesome. Thanks for linking to the pattern.  You are seriously making me want to start sewing again.

Love the booties. They lol fab with everything. The stripey tunic is terrific. Necklace/ hmmm, need shape and color to stand out against stripes-- maybe a disc and not lines or crosses?

Hi. Another vote for the booties. This outfit looks good on you. Love the colours. I think a long necklace would amp up the outfit.

I really like it with the booties. As for the necklace, I don't think you need one with the neckline detail, but if you do, keep it long and simple in warm brass tones.
