WIW: dark red inspiration

Just visited Tanya's post on the dark red with pink & orange ensemble. It's fun to read that Tanya looks forward to Angie's Friday ensembles and duplicates them right away. I have been trying to do that more often lately, too, though sometimes I just can't quite work it out, so I move on. The ensembles are often just the nudge I need to focus my morning's outfit creation. I'm not one to plan ahead, even though I'd like to be that person. More often, I have a few possibilities floating around in my head and then try to cobble together an outfit in the morning from those ideas.

Yesterday I got as far as dark red shoes with Angie's post, but didn't pair any pink or orange with them. Today I did the full-on ensemble.

Here are the outfits:
1 (worn Saturday to a morning meeting and haircut appointment): bright pink cap-sleeve scoop-neck tee (Caslon); boyfriend jeans (Fidelity, Rocco); tan cotton jacket (Caslon); floral metallic belt (Fossil); taupe croc-embossed cross-body bag (Brahmin); dark red patent leather loafers (Munro), silver and brass necklace and earrings (Marjorie Baer), berry red lipstick (Chanel Rouge Coco, rouge orage).

It started raining, and I wanted to wear a coat. So I changed after the haircut appointment. I think I like this next version better. . . .

2-3 (worn for day off, at home and shopping): same bright pink tee, boyfriend jeans, metallic floral belt, taupe cross-body bag, and dark red loafers. Replaced the tan jacket with dark red 3/4-sleeved cardigan (Halogen), added bright coral trench coat (Eddie Bauer), removed necklace.

4-6 (worn to work Friday): red floral lace tunic (made by me); black knit wide-leg pants (J.Jill, Wearever collection); dark red lace-up Mary Jane pumps (Naya); olive jacket (Laundry by Shelli Segal); taupe hobo bag (Aunts & Uncles); brushed silver twisted hoops.

Thanks for the inspiration, Angie! Dark red perked up my mood. The haircut helped a lot, too. :)

Thanks for looking! Thoughts and suggestions are always welcome.

Great outfits. I really love the versions of the ensemble with the jeans. There is something about the blue that pairs so well with the reds/corals. The black patent add some shine which makes it look luxe. The drapey pants are beautiful too. I LOVE the red shoes in this and while hard to discern the color in the photos--I bet is really noticeable in real life especially while moving around. The tunic is lovely. You really know how to pick interesting patterns. The little seaming detail (asymmetric) piece on the side is very cool!

Thanks, Kelly! Actually the loafers are a rich, dark red patent, not showing up well in the photos. :( You have a good eye, noticing that seam detail on the tunic!

    Hah. How fun are you.

I particularly like #3. Wow. Classic Euro. Down to the dark red loafers.

#2 is a fun mix too, and nice for at home.

On trend and fun in #5.

You have it going on, girlfriend.  The haircut looks fab, and you're transitioning into Autumn beautifully. xo

I love those utility jackets Sharan, and I love your hair! I can't wait to meet you in Seattle and see that gorgeous hairdo in person--maybe we will get a chance to talk hair (mine is also partly grey, wavy and bobbed-ish, although yours looks gloriously thicker than mine). :)

These are wonderful colors on you. My favorites are 3 followed by 2. Fab hair and shoes too.

Claire, thanks! I look forward to meeting you, too! Yes, we can talk hair among everything else!
Joy, thank you. I would never, ever have thought to pair them together without Angie's suggestions, would you?

#2/3 is my favorite - great hair too!

Oh, that rich red sweater in #2 needs to be mine. Love it with the pink and the jeans--and the shoes. Your shoes--especially the last pair--are to die for. So fab.
You look wonderful in that orange coat, too. These brights look amazing on you.

They are all so cute, but I especially love you in those trousers!  The Brahmin bag is very nice, too.  (-:

Thanks, shevia, Alana, and Jenava! (Jenava, I haven't seen you around on the forum lately. Hope to see you at the event in September!)

I love all the outfits. Those Mary Janes are beautiful. Can't wait to meet you in Seattle.

Thanks, Debbie. Wow, you'll be here all the way from Texas! See you soon.
