WIW: Burgundy, black, & cream x 3 or 4

When Angie posted inspiration outfits in burgundy, black, and cream, I knew there were lots of possibilities in my wardrobe for putting the formula into action.

Here are a few I've worn in the last couple of weeks.

1-3: Cream floral mesh top (Z Supply); burgundy zip cardigan (Treasure & Bond). Worn with black jeans (Levis, Wedgie) and gray nubuck booties (Mephisto) (pic1) to ride my bike to a coffee shop. Worn with white cargo jeans (AllSaints) to sit around the house afterward. Tried this outfit with black Chelsea boots (Dune London) and burgundy nubuck booties (Mephisto).

4-5: Burgundy, cream, and pale aqua mod patterned mock turtleneck pullover (Maeve); black lantern cargo jeans (OSKA); gray nubuck booties; stone boiled wool hoodie (OSKA); stone crossbody bag with brushed silver chain strap (AllSaints). Pics in dressing room at Everlane, where I was exchanging jeans. Not sure if this pullover is burgundy; it leans quite purple. But it goes with burgundy corduroys that I have. I'm counting it in!

6-7: stone pants (OSKA); abstract rose patterned tee in stone, burgundy, and black (made by me); burgundy cardigan (Vince); navy quilted coat (Lauren Ralph Lauren); stone gray nubuck booties again; sage crossbody bag (Madewell).

8-9: black straight-leg jeans (The Ranger, Banana Republic); abstract pattern tee in burgundy, tan, charcoal, brown (made by me); burgundy zip cardigan again; cream, beige, burgundy, and green tweedy stripe oversized bomber (Sézanne); tan suede monkstrap shoes (Munro).

I could wear this combination of colors without repeating an exact outfit for at least a month. But I won't--there are so many other things I want to wear--and have, in the last couple of weeks! It's a good way to get me thinking about new ways to wear burgundy, though. Thanks, Angie!

You look lovely in burgundy, it's such a good color!

My favorite outfit is #2, the white cargo jeans against the burgundy cardigan is simply divine. The fact that there are white stripes in the cardigan and it picks up the white cargo jeans is the perfect finishing detail. Love this combination on you!

My second favorite is #4, the abstract print on this mock turtleneck is so pretty. And you have a wonderful cargo jeans collection, these are lovely too!

For #6, I remember shopping NAS last year and seeing that Vince cardigan in stores. I almost picked one up, because it's a divine piece, thick, soft, and well made, alas, I do not have much use for luscious cardigans like that one where I live now.

The burgundy cardigan drapes beautifully on you and pairs so well with the light grey. And that navy quilted coat is a great length. When I lived in a colder climate I went batty with coat lengths and sweater/cardigan lengths, my hems would often peek out from my coat but you've nailed it for this outfit. And it's nice to see one of your green bags in action, it looks lovely against the navy coat.

The green tweedy stripe bomber is another fabulous piece and pairs perfectly with the shoes in the last outfit.

Thanks, Lisa! I remember those days of long cardigans and some coats that were always just a bit too short! I appreciate the cargo jeans love; I have these white ones in blue, too--same exact style!

Hmm tough call but I think my favorites are #2 and #6. This is such a stunning color combination on you!

    Thanks, Jaime!

KILLER CUDDLY FABNESS all round :)

#2 with the white cargos is my FAVE! Just so crisp and yummy. I could eat you up, Sharan…....

Sharan these are cool outfits.  I love the vibe of the Levies Wedgies in #1, and the cream cargos in #2 have my heart. That graphic print on the mockneck is my kind of print.  Our style criss-crosses quite a bit imo, I see some Grownup Tomgirl here if I am not mistaken? :)    You wear burgundy really well, it suits you.

What an excellent set of outfits! A really like them all and it is difficult to choose a favorite. The zipper cardigan looks great with all the bottoms and the combination with the white pair is stunning. I also admire outfit 9 - what a chic jacket and perfect with the monkstraps. You have a wonderful wardrobe and impeccable
    style.

Great collection of burgundy/cream/black combos, that burgundy zip cardigan works great with all your bottoms, its casual yet stylish too.
Love all your outerwear as well, the quilted coat is just the perfect length and fit, and the bomber jacket’s texture and colour makes it such a fab statement piece to wear.

Very collected looking casual vibe. That Maeve mock neck simply lights you up. You can really wear a pattern.

You have a nice collection of burgundy items and I really like the way you have mixed them with white, black, and cream and other neutrals. It is fun to use Angie's inspiration posts to make new outfits and you have come up with a great set of outfits.

You look great in burgundy. I am going to try this palette for December, as inspiration for that month’s looks.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

Thanks, Angie. I kinda figured you would especially appreciate the white cargo jeans outfits!

Star, yes! I have a tomboy streak in my style. Maybe Grownup Tomgirl--I'm not sure. But I do really like to have some androgyny in my looks.

Katerina and Dee, thanks! The zipper cardigan was one of my best NAS purchases of its year. I've found it goes with so many things. Even more than the other, plainer burgundy cardigan, which I bought at the same sale.

Thanks, Olive Green! The Maeve pullover was a surprise to me when I tried it on. I didn't expect to like it so much on me, as I usually prefer less distinct patterns. I'm still a bit unsure why this one works so well for me.

Bonnie, thanks. I get inspired by Angie's formulas, but don't often follow through with actually making the outfits and/or photographing them. I think you are quite good at it!

cat2, that's a fantastic idea! This palette will be beautiful for December, here in the northern hemisphere.

You are so stylish! Just love those white cargo pants. Do you mind if I ask how tall you are?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

    Thanks, Kyle! I'm about 5'4".

  • Laurie replied 1 month ago

Sharan, you look great! I especially like the combinations in #3 and 5. This color palette is super good overall.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

Thank you, Laurie. I think 5 is my favorite of this bunch, too.
