WIW and WIB at the fashion show

I told you all here that I was going to be in a fashion show at my favorite local boutique. Here's what I wore to the show (I modeled clothing from the store, not this outfit), and what I bought afterward, using a gift certificate I received for being a model. (Yes, I'll work for clothes!)

1-3 (the outfit I wore to the fashion show): slouchy distressed skinnies (Silver); mauve floral 3/4-sleeved tee (made by me); cognac cutout belt (Fossil); denim ballet flats with navy cap toe (AGL); bright coral trench coat (Eddie Bauer, Christine trench); navy and tan satchel (Dooney & Bourke).

4-5 (what I bought): dark wash skinnies (Mother, The Looker high rise).

The new jeans are super stretchy and comfy. I also bought a couple of pairs of skinnies at Lucky the other day. I am surprising myself by wanting to wear skinnies again. The fabrics are soft and comfortable lately, and I feel like the new skinnies are flattering. I hope they look okay uncovered--what do you think? I don't want to look like I forgot my pants (i.e., they are too much like leggings).

    You look stunning in that floral top. Love both jeans on you. You can certainly pull off the skinnies! no doubt about it!

    Love both pairs of jeans and the top you made is wonderful. I think you will get a lot of use out of the ones you bought.

    YLF in all of these. I love your top - it looks fantastic on you. The jeans look like jeans to me - great fit imo.

    I really like those dark wash high rise skinnies on you.  The higher back pocket placement makes such a difference.  The top you made is drool inducing.

    Love your new skinnies. I reach for my skinnies every day now, too. Go figure (I still love all fits though). Yay for working-for-clothes discounts ;)

    Aha, Joy! Higher back pocket placement--thank you. I didn't know what it was that made me like these so much. I really liked what they did to my backside so I had to buy them. I also tried on J Brand high-waisted skinnies in a dark wash, and I liked them too, but not as much as the Mothers.
    Angie, it's funny how that works. And I want to wear the new skinnies, not the old ones.

    Jackie, I'm really into bootcuts lately, too. I feel like putting the boyfriends away for a while, though.

    The high rise looks really good on you - thanks for posting front and back views of both jeans.  Did you model the high rise jeans - that would have caused a sell-out for sure!

    You look great in the skinnies.  Love the top you made.  I don't own skinnies but I did try on a pair of high rise skinnies a few days ago.

    Ha ha, Merwoman! No, I modeled J Brand high rise dark skinnies, with an Eileen Fisher tunic over them. Someone else modeled the Mother skinnies, though.

    Style Fan, I thought you had some Fidelity skinnies. Maybe you have some straight-legged ones? Or I know, you said you had the boyfriends like I have, right?

    These colours are beautiful on you. I love that floral top. Not seeing any problem with the skinnies, they look like a fantastic fit. And yes, I've worked for clothes too :)

    wow, YLF in all. that floral top is great, and just perfect for that coat! and i love the new skinnies. can part of the reason you are reaching for the new skinnies, but not the old, is the higher rise? which, BTW, makes your legs look incredible.

    Great score- the fit is perfect , so I think it's not skinny this or rise that, it's recognizing brands and styles that get you and that create certain silhouettes in the most flattering ways.

    kkards, yes, I think I'm liking the higher rises. Though the Mother "high" rise is really more of a mid-rise, probably. It doesn't come up to my waist, but it's slightly higher than some of my mid-rise jeans.

    I have the Fidelity relaxed skinnies (destroyed and I wore out the vintage wash :( ).  They are really BF jeans.  They are the ones you have I think.  I did have a very inexpensive pair of Joe Fresh skinnies that I wore once.

    Both pairs of jeans look terrific on you! I am taking inspiration from your wearing the Silver distressed jeans; I want to try distressed jeans but am unsure if they'll work with my style. Yours have just the right amount of distressing; I would try some like that.

    Beautiful coat, too. The fashion show sounds like lots of fun.

    The high rise jeans look great. I don't think they look like leggings if made of denim, even with stretch, and have real pockets, zipper, belt loops, etc. That all gives a lot of structure, even if they are close fitting.
