WIW and what I wanted to wear

Today I wanted to wear my white jeans. But I just could not bring myself to do it. They are too tight, and I felt like a sausage in them. Both full-length pairs--the straight legs and the more forgiving (!) flares.

So I wore my slouchy skinny jeans that I really like and that are really comfortable. I tend to wear them in a little warmer weather, because one of the distressed features actually became a hole, so they are a little drafty near one knee.

I wanted to wear the outfit without a topper. But I got cold and added the sweater. [Sigh]

The outfit, worn for piano lesson, hanging around home, and out for a casual dinner this evening: grays on white scroll print cotton lawn funnel neck top (made by me); slouchy skinny jeans (Silver); pewter belt (Fossil); taupe linen cardigan (Nic & Zoe); pewter and taupe Mary Jane slingbacks (Fidji); pave disc earrings (Lucky); pewter leather bracelet with a crystal-encrusted oval disk (bought while traveling).

Should I go out and find a pair of white full-length jeans that fits the body I have? I do have cropped boyfriends in white that fit. I just didn't want to wear cropped today (even though I rolled these--makes no sense, huh?).

Thanks for looking!

What a super blouse! I love the fabrics you choose. I say go get new jeans if you are jonesing to wear white ones.

Firecracker, I totally agree with Ceit! Go get some white jeans that fit well. I've had lots of fun styling mine this summer, they make everything look fresh and I feel like a bit of a hipster! I've had good luck with Skinny NYDJ and a brand called Sandwich. White boyfriends could be another option.

Oops! You already have boyfriends-maybe they're too short? Proportion is key.

Your Moody Arty Draped Glam style really suits you. xo

I think you look great here.  If you think you will get a lot of wear from new white jeans, I would get some.

I agree about the white jeans, get some new ones if you think you'll wear them. It sure sounds like it. Maybe later they can be your white boyfriend style. I love the color, shape and waist detail of the cardigan. it would be gorgeous with white jeans!

Thanks, Ceit. I would like to have them today, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow!
Jude, great suggestions--thank you! You're right--my white boyfriends are good, but I do like the option of wearing jeans full-length, and mine aren't that long.
    Angie, thank you! MAD Glam!
Sara L, thanks! I wonder how much wear I would get. I think if I found some looser style (or not skin-tight) straight-legs, then I could wear them even if I get back to my normal size, and they wouldn't be a duplicate of what I have.

Thanks, Pil. Yes, they could be boyfriends later, right. Actually, if I had planned to wear the sweater, I could have just worn my white jeans. I think I might have been comfortable enough in them with some rear-and-thigh coverage.

Another not to getting white jeans that you can enjoy right now. These boyfriends fit you wonderfully, and with added ventilation, no less :)  I love, LOVE the way the print of your top shows through the upper back of your cardi... I always enjoy effects like that. Cardi fit is impeccable!

Made by Me for the win once again! Great outfit but it the things you make are always my favorite part.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Gracie, thanks! Funny, the see-through detail on the back was total serendipity. :) I've been surprised at how much I like these jeans--wouldn't have thought I'd go for so much distressing. But a trusted friend/boutique owner suggested them, and I like them. I've searched for them in white, to no avail.

Shevia, thank you--glad you enjoy them! Like your designer thrift finds, they lend a unique element, right?

MAD glam is perfect! I love those jeans on you and completely sympathise with the sausage dilemma. Fossil belt too...sigh. I want one.

  • Adelfa replied 9 years ago

I agree, your style is looking amazing :-)

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

You look awesome - love it! See how you feel about new jeans tomorrow...I oscillate day to day especially with the variety of fits out there...some days I want the sausage fit, others I crave uber-oversize. But if you are craving the white ones NOW....get them today & fit your awesome body.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Hah. MAD Glam. That's your moniker. xo

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

NZ Nicola and Adelfa, thanks for the confidence boosts!
Jackiec, you've got a good point. I feel the same way, wanting different fits for different days and moods.
Angie, I thought of Diana, who has some arty and draped style, too. She could be MAD scientist, tee hee!--except 1) I wouldn't describe her colors as moody and 2) scientist is not part of her style! So it doesn't really fit, alas.

You piano teacher must wait to see what you will wear each week!  Love the layering of the scroll print under the slightly sheer topper.

As for white jeans --- even should you return to a slightly smaller size, a white pant with a little slouch will probably still be nice to have!  I like my white pants a little looser than my dark wash.

Go get the new white jeans for the body you have now.  I can not wait to see them in action.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Ever since Angie converted me to wearing white jeans, I cannot imagine not having them in my wardrobe...just sayin'...

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Whoa, Firecracker! Another fabulous outfit. You're on fire! Haha.

My thought is, you should go get white trousers you're comfortable in. Unless you're like me, and it's a day-by-day thing whether or not something fits and is comfortable.
