WIW: almost white

I was awed and inspired by Angie's outfit post today. I commented that I had been thinking about wearing my white jeans and might just put them on today. Then I decided to go with putty corduroys instead. In truth, I'm not all that happy with these cords; they are the same style and size as my wine corduroys, which I really like a lot, and yet these have never quite fit the same. I'm thinking I'd like to get a size up, because I always want to cover my backside when I'm wearing this pair. They just feel and look a little more snug.

I do like the color! This is my white--feels totally comfortable, whereas I have to try hard to wear true white, especially in the cooler months. I've gotten more at ease with wearing white jeans in summer, but I wish my Kut from the Kloth boyfriends were just a little more muted shade of white. I know there are others out there who like their whites a little less bright.

The outfit (worn for New Year's Day at home): stone skinny corduroys (Eddie Bauer); red, black, gray, and ivory plaid long-sleeved t-shirt (made by me); dark and light gray polka-dot infinity scarf (gift of DH); long gray cardigan (Halogen); gray/silver skinny belt; gray moto boots (Frye, Lynn).

Thanks for looking! Your thoughts and suggestions are always welcome.

You do so well with the long cardigans! I also like the dots x the plaid. I did white out today but have misplaced my white booties so am not memorializing.

Oh, UmmLila, just put on your gray suede booties and snap a pic! Or do you have metallic ones? Meanwhile, hope your white ones turn up soon!

This is great! I hear you on the sizing of the putty pants; it's often that way with lighter shades for some reason. I don't know why. But honestly, they look good in the photo, and this is a lovely relaxed outfit for a day at home.

I will sometimes wear my optic white jeans in winter, but more often I reach for my cream or off-white jeans. Partly because the fabric is a bit softer/ cozier but also because the colour doesn't strike me as quite as intense.

    I always love your outfits!

Another wonderful outfit.  I love the dots with the plaid and your stone jeans.  My favorite white pants are the ivory jeans that were an Angie pick last year.  They are a cream color rather than optic white and go well with off-white booties.

Another great look. Do I see putty jeans in your future? A festive New Year's pattern mix too.

p.s. I may need to crown you Queen Maxi Cardigan.

My first reaction was to admire how well you wear long cardigans - I fully support Angie's plans to crown you!

    Oh, yay! A crown!
Thanks for all the kind comments on the long cardigan, the pattern-mixing, and the outfit!
Angie, yes to putty jeans! If I come across a pair in the right fit, that will be an easy decision.

Ooh, I've always wanted to be invited to a coronation! More love for the long cardigan and I very much like the way the white in the top picks up the colour of the pants. They don't look too tight in the photo, but I know how it feels to be not quite comfortable. Do you think they just need a little more wearing in, or is it the size is wrong?

*curtsying to the newly crowned queen* ;)

I love those jeans on you FC, such a lovely shade and I hear you on the harshness of white. I'm coming to the same conclusion myself for my colouring and I just so happen to have some cream denim fabric in my stash :) Hmm I wonder if you could dye your white ones? I love the diagonal plaid top that you made and the colours all play so nicely together with the fab long cardi. YLF!

PS I have a white blouse that I considered dyeing off-white using teabags... ever tried it?

Sharon, this pair of corduroys just just seems to fit a little different than the pair I have in the other color. Unfortunately, they're not available any more. If they were, I'd probably just go and buy the next size up. They weren't very expensive to begin with, and Eddie Bauer has a lot of sales.

Diane, I've actually thought about dyeing my jeans. I've never dyed anything, though, so I'd hesitate to do it on something I didn't want to lose.

The putty color plays so nicely with many of the the deep tones in your winter palette.  And I agree --- long cardigans look so lovely on you!
