WIW: a version of black, cinnamon and red

When I saw Angie's ensemble suggestion of black, cinnamon and red today, I thought it was pretty but not something I would wear. Cinnamon tones are not really in my palette. But then I realized one of my favorite sweaters is black, cinnamon, and toffee, and I could wear it with some of my burgundy booties.

Here's the result, worn for an afternoon off and a trip to the bike shop to buy more biking goodies!
Black skinny frayed-hem jeans (Mother, the Looker, in Blackbird); black tee (Caslon); black and browns animal print cardigan (Free People, Out of Africa); wine lace-up booties (Joseph Seibel); olive puffer (Lauren Ralph Lauren); olive bag (AllSaints); brown stone and hammered silver necklace, hammered silver earrings.

Thanks for the inspiration, Angie! Thanks all, for looking. I appreciate any thoughts you wish to share.

That is gorgeous on you. The colours are hard to make out on my screen (yay, winter!) but the proportions are fab and I just know this was the perfect outfit for your outing. It's so great when that happens. Love your belt, too.

Thanks, Suz! And that first photo is after lightening the exposure--haha! I really should get a photo of the belt and create a find. It is my favorite belt, a studded one by Suzi Roher. It goes with everything. I'm glad I nabbed it when I did, because I've never seen it again anywhere.

I love both the colors and the silhouette on you. Fab!

OMG this is just fabulous! I love everything about both pics. They are my aspirational aesthetic—a very modern column of color!

What great outfits. You are looking terrific! I love how the sweater and boots match.

Wow. This came out so well. Proportions, colors and all. That’s one of the things I like best about the Friday ideas Angie floats: they can make you think about what you already have in new ways.

    Thanks, everyone!
Jenn, yes, cozy was key today!
Column, how sweet. I'm glad to have inspired you.
Bonnie, thanks. Angie's post showed me that cinnamon can be nudged into red territory.
UmmLila, thank you, and you are so right. I love it when the ensemble posts help me create new outfits from existing pieces.
Thanks for your kind comments, unfrumped, torontogirl, jlpp, Debbie, and Lynn.

I also thought this color combo was not for me, but I may have to give it a shot. I love your version. The belt necklace and boots are gorgeous supporting pieces for a striking Sweater.

Such a great cardigan, and works so well the way you are wearing it.

This is so beautiful on you. I do love the deep red boots, and cardigan, statement pieces that work so well together and have that great quality of being not only beautiful but also comfortable to wear.

I love this look on you FC.  That sweater looks so good on you.  I don't have mine with me on my trip but I can borrow your idea and wear it with a coloum of denim.  I like the addition of burgundy.
    Your hair is looking gorgeous.
