WIW: a few outfits & a couple of NAS bags

Today I was thinking of wearing my new linen dress, making use of your great feedback on styling. But it was pouring buckets this morning, so that outfit was shelved for another day.

Here are a few of my outfits this week, starting with today and working backwards. Also some bonus shots of a couple of bags I got at NAS. One I'm keeping, and one I've already returned.

1-2 (worn for teaching class): gray linen slouchy pants (made by me); gray modal short-sleeved tee (Caslon); coral 3/4-sleeved cardigan (Halogen); stone and cream belt (Annette Goertz); gray leather sneakers (Josef Seibel, Caspian).

3-6 (worn for a day off): white boyfriend jeans (Kut from the Kloth, Catherine); gray hatchy-print tee (made by me); black-gray-silver narrow belt; black loafers (Munro).

Photo 5: cross-body bag in black and snakeskin print (Amy Kestenberg)--I'm keeping this one. I think it will be great for travel, and it will go with black, dark brown, and caramel shoes and short boots that I have.

Photo 6: convertible tote in black and snakeskin print (Amy Kestenberg)--I've returned this one. I didn't like the scale of the bag for me--a little too big for what I wanted. It's a fun bag, though, and the leather feels really nice.

7-8 (worn to work): black slouchy skinnies with zipper pockets and front slask pockets with embellished flaps (tucked in)(Mos Mosh); silk snakeskin print tee in blues, greens, gray and black on ivory (made by me); fancy-buckle belt (BedStu); black satchel (Elliott Lucca); black oxfords (Josef Seibel). I tried rolling the pants above the oxfords again, after getting feedback here on an attempt at this look with green chinos. I think I like it.

Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for looking!

#3-6 is my favourite from these outfits. FC, the top is just gorgeous and different shades of grey in the top look great with white in the bottoms. As always, a great selection of accessories too.

Amazing that you made those pants! I like all your outfits, with a slight preference for 3...so sharp.

Not only do you look fabulous in all the outfits, I am so impressed that you made the pants and top! Wow, what a talent!

#3 and #7 is great. I think in #1 I would try a different belt and maybe different shoes. My logic is because the pants, which are great by the way, read very casual - almost cargo - and the belt also feels sort of cargo style - then adding the casual shoes seems like maybe there isn't the balance I often see in your outfits. Hope that makes sense.

I have that Elliot Lucca bag in ivory and love it.

Possibly you should have your own clothing line. Every time I pick out my favorite thing it is always something you made. This time, the top in 7-9.

I would be your customer. :)

Inspiration time!  I really need to understand how you wear 1-2:  how is it that the cardi looks funky not frumpy?  And how I love 7-9!

    7-9 *Plonk*
Waaaah! Why can't my jeans fit me like yours?
Where did you purchase the Mos Mosh skinnies?

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

7-9 is my favorite of these looks. Love your style

Going against the flow here, but I love look #1! It's casual, hip and chic.

MadeByMe wins me over every time. Love the grey with orange, and both MBM tops. Great new bag too!

Thanks all, for the kind comments!

Texstyle, it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the ideas! The outfit looks more sporty than I usually wear, I think.

Peri, how nice of you. I would make you some of those pants you like, too, if you were my customer. I don't think it would work very well for me long distance, though I know some people can manage it quite well.

Gracie, thank you! I got the Mos Mosh pants at Renee's Contemporary Clothing in Everett. They aren't jeans but a really nice, substantial weight cotton.

Firecracker, you are amazing. Love everything that you made yourself. Wow. Those first grey slouchy trousers are perfection. Love all of your outfits - i can't even pick a favourite. Good call on the crossbody. Those colours will play so well with your wardrobe. I like both bags, but seems you made the right choice. Thanks for sharing.

Fab as per usual, my dear.  Catherine twins ;-)

Oh my goodness, you look amazing in every outfit. My favorite one is the one I saw last. Which in this case is #1 (came full circle). Your style is really developing! Wow!

These are all great imo. My favourite is #7 to #9 - the fit of everything is sensational.

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

I love everything you make! The pants are to die for and each of those tops is spectacular in terms of color/fit. SO beautiful, Firecracker. You really know what fabrics and patterns work for you. Elegant, artsy and super stylish! Great new bag too!

ETA: I just love grey/silver on you. It really suits your complexion.

#3 and #7 are just outstanding! I love both! And I also love how you went from light to dark. Both those MBM (made by me) tops are lovely on you.  I love the soft interplay of neutrals on them and the vertical line of the second one.

I think you made a good decision on the bags. The one you returned looks a bit oversized for you.

I see what texstyle is saying about #1. I feel like it could also be worn as is with more structure. Maybe rolling the pant legs to expose some ankle? Might need to switch up the footwear in that case.
