what to wear with my stone trousers

After your suggestions on this thread for a lighter support act for my stone trousers, I tried out a different look, with several footwear options. I recalled that my initial impulse to make these trousers was in response to a suggestion, from another thread, that a light-colored, drapey pant would work well with my gray and mauve print wool sweatshirt. But I don't have light-colored winter footwear, so I've been wearing the trousers with something black or charcoal on top, so that black shoes might not look so out of place.

Here I've paired the mauve and gray sweatshirt with the pants and tried out different shoes. Note: I could also wear the mauve and gray sweatshirt over a light gray blouse, rather than the sage tee; I just had on the tee for another outfit already.

I'm not super thrilled with any of my footwear options. I have ordered some metallic pumps in hopes that they will work, but I won't know till I see them in real life.

Meanwhile, I'm working with what I have. What do you think? Any of these worth going out of the house in?

1: d'Orsay pumps with spikey heel (Vince, Claire)(not an option for every day--these are party shoes, not all-day shoes)
2: burnished gold pumps with black cap toe and heel (Anyi Lu)
3: brown metallic booties (Donald J. Pliner)
4: heeled oxfords in mixed neutrals (Fidji)
5: taupe nubuck booties (Paul Green, Jano)
6: back view with taupe booties (just so you can see the outfit from back).

I see your need for lighter winter footwear. Of these I like your goldfish oxfords best. I use either my light snake or putty ( a taupey tan suede) SE Petty booties when a winter light shoe is needed. They are available in stone and I keep hoping that the price will go down.

I think I prefer the oxfords featured in #8 too. Also, I really like the pointy toe vibe from your booties. Joys suggestions look great. A light snake skin pattern would look fab!

Heeled oxfords in mixed light colors is my favorite.  And this top works better.I also think you could go even lighter, almost a white top as the pants are very light.

I like the lighter oxfords for color and the pointy booties for fab shape.
I also like Cocolion's idea of doing more of an outfit whiteout or Suz's " gray out. Maybe something that's slightly fitted but had fuller sleeves. I'm thinking outfits with these pants are partly about shoe colors, and partly about proportions and colors of the tops and bottoms.

A whiteout outfit would be fun using the stone trousers. Do you have a white leather jacket? Or a long light open cardi?

With this top (I mean the underlayer in sage) I like the Pliners. With a lighter top, I would go for the oxfords. And I love, love, love the sweatshirt with these pants!

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone! I really appreciate your perspectives.

Joy, I don't have a white leather jacket. I have a light long cardigan that is semi-sheer; I'll have to see if it goes. I've been searching for some snakeskin booties, but with a little bit higher heel than the Pettys. It's a hard thing to find!

I like the idea of an even lighter top with the oxfords.

The shoes in #8 work very well. I also like the Pilner booties.

I like the oxfords the best although I suspect that Pliner booties photograph darker than they are IRLO so they may be a good option too.
It is so difficult to wear lighter pants with dark footwear - I only like it with a black or very dark top.

You all have me thinking: I could use a stone-colored silk top, couldn't I? Along with pointy-toe shoes or booties in the snake print of those Pettys.
It's so funny when this happens: I obtain item X to go with item Y, and then I need items A, B, . . . to go with items X and Y together!

You could use a stone coloured silk top. I'm sure you have light coloured knitwear too, Sharan. Try that. I would love to see the light contrast on top, with the oxfords. xo
