my other NAS jeans: Hudson Beth baby bootcut

Really, how many pairs of jeans do I need? Well, I do wear them a lot. Let's see, I can't wear them to work (three days a week), but otherwise, they are pretty much in rotation 9 months of the year or more.
Though I will say, I've begun to realize there are only so many days in a year.

Anyway, I picked up these Hudson jeans to try on, simply because I like the pockets. I've always liked the Hudson flap pocket look, but whenever I saw them on sale and tried them in the past, they didn't fit. These came home with me, and today I put them on again to check the fit and the rear view, which is important to me. I thought I'd better take photos, because I can sometimes deceive myself with the mirror.

So, here they are for your consideration. As with my other post on straight-leg jeans I got at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I am comparing these to a pair of Luckys I already had. Just to show I really don't need another pair of bootcuts. I will admit, I actually don't wear bootcuts as often as I wear straight/skinny legs. But the two pair of bootcuts are quite different: sometimes you need a flap on your pocket and sometimes you don't. And the colors are different, so I will wear them with different things.

photos 1-2: Hudson Beth Baby Bootcut jeans (new, tags still on). I've turned under the hem, because they are too long & will need hemming.
photos 3-4: Lucky Sweet Jean bootcut jeans (the ones I already owned), for comparison.

I'm not really inclined to return, unless you think the fit is off and/or I need to consider a different size. This purchase is just for fun!

Another keeper! You need a job where you can wear jeans. Nobody wears them better.

  • JayS replied 9 years ago

    Um, keep.
Do you ever put on a pair of jeans that don't look great on you???

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Gah, more fab-fitting jeans!  The pockets in these sold me. You look fantastic in jeans and should be a model :)

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

    They are gorgeous on you!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

    What Carter said!

You get to have as many jeans as you want. First, you're built for jeans, full stop. Second, you make most of your clothes anyway. So why not stock up on the few items you buy? (How is that for enabling?)

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Keep! No doubt in my mind. They are awesome!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

    Love them on you!

I have those jeans -- I got them two years ago at NAS, or maybe it was three? -- and they're still going strong. I think they changed the fabric a little, but they're still great jeans.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Thanks, everyone! JayS, yes, seriously, sometimes I can't even get my legs all the way in them, and not because I grabbed the wrong size (some don't go over my calves). I just have to laugh when that happens!

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Love those on you. Nice to mix it up.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

You look so good in jeans!

I see more reason to keep both straights than both boots.  These do look different but they represent the same wardrobe tool without the potential for laundry bottleneck (which could happen with the straights).  Because you said you don't wear boots as often.

Having said that, I really like the Hudson pocket on you and the leg is slightly different.  The Hudsons are more slim at the upper part of your calf whereas the Luckys start to flare right after the knee break.

This is a tough one.  They look great, but do you really need them?  How about another denim silhouette?  Or, replace the Luckys with these?

This has my brain spinning about duplicates…

I've included some other NAS denim picks.  The Hudson baby boots in black wouldn't be as redundant with the Luckys.  The Vigoss might have a slimmer calf fit to be different from the Luckys as well (and cheaper).  Also I included some skinnies.  But not sure if you wear them.  I have some Rag & Bones in Kensington wash that I love.

these hudson jeans look like they were made for you!

  • viva replied 9 years ago

I actually sighed when I saw these pics. Like Suz said, you were MADE for jeans. Oh hell, what legs!!!

I would not blame you at all for keeping them - they are fantastic. Love everything about them on you.

That said, I also appreciate Cocolion's post, with the other suggestions -- in particular, the possibility of the black? Same fit, same cut pockets, but another color. Just a thought.

Would you mind sharing the NAS price here? I am adding these to my NAS fantasy list.

Also, would you comment on sizing?

  • Susie replied 9 years ago

Wow you DO look great in jeans, Miss Mile Long Legs!

  • replied 9 years ago

Whoa, look at that booty, perfection!  You must promptly go back to Nordstrom and buy ALL THE JEANS.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

If I looked this good in jeans, I'd live in them.

  • Kimberley replied 9 years ago

When you look that good in jeans, you should wear as many pairs as you want to!  Those are freaking fantastic on you!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

You live in Seattle so you need many pairs of jeans. LOVE these, Sharan. Wow. Killer Deluxe. xo

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

OMG you look so fab in all jeans!!! Personally I'd keep them all. I wear them all.the.time here on the west coast so would just rotate them all.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments. I'm blushing!

Viva, thank you! The Hudsons are size 28; the Lucky Sweet Jean here is size 2/26. The Kuts in my other post are 4; the Lucky Sweet Jean straight leg in that post is 4/27. I did a mini-review here of my NAS try-ons, too. The NAS price of the Hudsons is $129.90 (after sale $198). NAS price of the Kuts is $52.90 (after sale $79.50).

Cocolion, you are so right; there is no laundry bottleneck problem with bootlegs for me. So these are more duplicative than the straights. But I also feel a flattering bootcut jean may have more longevity for me; my favorites last through several seasons (although my size has changed more than I expected lately). Anyway, I hadn't seen the black ones. Those look cool, too! In this case, I think I would still pine for the blue ones if I got the black. The Vigoss look like a good option--those pockets are really similar, and the jeans are a nice cut--but I'm guessing from the way they fit the model that they would likely not fit my calves. Okay, so now you've got me thinking about the black ones, which I know wasn't your point at all. (But if I don't end up keeping the boots that are on their way to me, . . .)

    Hahahahaha, Alicat!

Angie and jackiec, I don't know what it is about Seattle. After I got here (I moved from the Bay Area in CA), I bought a second pair of jeans, wondering if I really needed two pairs. All I can say to that now is bwahhahah!

Carter is right--I need a job where I can wear my jeans!

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

These look great on you, I vote keep.  I would try them myself, but I don't think they have these in petite for NAS this year.  :(

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

Gulp, wow! but I think they do the same wardrobe job as the Lucky's.  Your call! Sometimes I like duplicates too.

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 9 years ago

I implore you to keep them Sharan, because I am a bad influence ;-) They look fab (as you have already heard) and they are yet another thing we have in common! I will say that the downside to the button pockets is the potential for damage to leather seating, so I slide carefully into the car :-)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Ann, thank you! Your bad influence is very much appreciated. And oh, my gosh--I just realized the leather-seat thing. I have a pair of Kut from the Kloth denim shorts with similar button-flap pockets, and I think I dragged them on my car seat the other day! I forgot to inspect the damage.

  • Niki Lea replied 9 years ago

I don't want to be creepy, but your butt looks AMAZING in those jeans!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Lol! But I am with Niki Lea! *giggle*

  • Kyle replied 9 years ago

Are you really a jeans model? You should be.

  • doubleh replied 9 years ago

"sometimes you need a flap on your pocket and sometimes you don't"
Haha!  My rear NEVER needs a flap.  But Hudsons fit the best for me.  You rock them.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

These are perfect on you! They must be 40" if they are too long for you because your legs look SOOOO long and lean. WOWZA.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

LOL, Una! They're 34" according to the description. I haven't measured. I need more like 31 1/2" or 32" with heels.
