Inspired by YLF: Jorts!

I was taken with the jorts on Angie's post about Denim Trends for 2025. I found some at Anthropologie, and they just arrived today. They fit perfectly, and I am so excited--I love them!

Here are my quick try-ons, with a cardigan sweater (AllSaints) that can work for winter or summer and that I'm wearing as a pullover.

1-3: Jorts (Pilcro, Myra) with my (new) cowboy boots, black studded belt, and tall socks (or tights), for a cooler-weather look
4: with the boots and bare legs for a warmer weather look
5: with black sandals (Dansko) for summer
6: with cream loafers (27 Edit), blush belt (AllSaints), also for summer
7-8: Bonus pics of today's outfit. New relaxed straight jeans (Levis 555 men's, Baby Blue wash); peacock blue boucle pullover (made by me); stone suede studded belt (AllSaints); taupe suede booties (Paul Green).

The jorts are KILLER to the Power of KILLER. The new mens jeans too, Sharan!

Excuse me while I faint at the sight of the jorts with the new cowboy boots.....

  • Jaime replied 1 month ago

Love these! Wow they look fantastic every which way but if I had to pick #1 is my favorite. New jeans also look amazing on you and the blue MBM top is a great color and shape.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

Wow, Angie, a K to the K! I'm blushing. Thank you!
Jaime, Queen of Jorts (or maybe Queen of Long Shorts), thank you! I'm excited to wear them as in #1 soon. No need to wait for warm weather--yay! Thanks for the MBM sweater love, too.

  • Angie replied 1 month ago

LOVE the jorts on you Sharan! Absolutely spectacular, and perfectly styled in every pic! And yes - Jaime is our Queen Jorts. You have a seat on her table in the realm :)

  • Suz replied 1 month ago

Oh, wow! I'm so glad someone tried these. You look amazing in them! I am very tempted to try a pair even though they will be difficult to wear for me because I have short calves. These work so well with your boots! But they are also good with the sandals.

The new jeans are equally amazing on you.

  • Lisa replied 1 month ago

Wow those jorts are AMAZING on you! What a great addition to your wardrobe. I like how they are styled here, can't even pick a favorite, all variations are stellar. These look like they will become a workhorse item!

You're very talented to make your own sweater, how fun! The new baggy straight legs are lovely on you, this is how I prefer to wear my straight legs these days too, a little on the baggy side. It's a fun look and comes with the bonus of being nice and comfy too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

Suz, thanks! You could shorten them, but there's a little detail that you'd either lose or have to re-create, and that's the lower lines of stitching on what I think of as the chaps detail on front. The jorts are raw-edged, which may not show up that well in the photo. I also noticed on the Anthro site that there are some good-looking Pilcro Bermuda-length jorts, which you might want to try instead. I'm excited that longer shorts are becoming more available.

Lisa, thank you! The new jeans are a great width to work well over my cowboy boots, too, which I know you'd appreciate!

The jorts are very cool! And each of the outfits feel like they bring out different aspects of them, can see them being a versatile piece for you.

So impressed that you can make your own sweaters! It looks great with your jeans.

  • Brooklyn replied 1 month ago

I adore these! The chaps detail at the front. The crossover belt at the back. The slightly jodhpur-ish shape. They are excellent. And you wear them so well. I like them best with the boots. Unexpected!

  • Dee replied 1 month ago

Very stylish jort combos, they look great on you and look quite versatile, like how you can showcase your new boots in them too.
Those new loose jeans look fab too. Love that wash. I never think to try on men's jeans but perhaps I should.

  • Olive Green replied 1 month ago

The Jorts are good on you, prefer the bare legs for balance. You have really long legs and the Levis mens jeans are perfection. Immediately went and added to bag for consideration.
I am much shorter but also fairly straight figure with no waist and long legs so I watch what works on you. Fabulous taste.

  • Aquamarine replied 1 month ago

You are fearless! I would’ve thought jorts would be a warm weather option but I like how you styled them with boots.

  • Star replied 1 month ago

These are really cool.  I was not sure but you have me convinced.  They suit you so well.  My favourites are the first outfit with the boots and the one with the cream loafers.  The fit of your new jeans is great.

Dee and Olive Green, it had been a long time since I'd tried on men's jeans. I was inspired by a sales associate, who was rocking men's 568s! I tried those first; I think her advice was to go two sizes up from your women's size. I tried them, in a couple of different sizes, and they were too roomy through the crotch. I tried men's 501s, and they weren't right for me. I love my women's 501s, but they didn't come in a light wash like what I was attracted to in other styles. I tried the 555s because they did have this light blue wash, and they fit in one size up from my women's 501 size. I think these 555s work for me because I am on the straighter side, from waist to hips.
RachelNZ, thanks! I love sweaters but don't have the patience for knitting. Sewing a sweater is an option, when you can find the right sweater knit fabric!
Brooklyn, appreciate your attention to the details. Pilcro has a winner with these, IMO. They make me think that shortening barrel jeans into jorts could be an option--one I wouldn't have thought of. (Not that I have any barrel jeans I'm tired of yet!)
Aquamarine, these jorts seem like a cross between a short and a culotte, so to me they feel like a skirt option.
Star, I'm so glad to inspire you!

  • kkards replied 1 month ago

Wow! This could almost convince me to try them. These are fabulous and soooo good with the boots!   Have you tried them with sneakers?

  • RobinF replied 1 month ago

These look great on you with your long legs! That is a really bad length on me, although I did wear culottes back in the day and they were similar. Very fun!

  • JAileen replied 1 month ago

OMG I love the jorts with your cowboy boots!  Now I think I need jorts..

  • Sal replied 1 month ago

Wow these look great on you. Very edgy and modern and original. The jeans are an awesome fit too.

  • Bonnie replied 1 month ago

Both outfits are great. I love the boots with the jorts and the men's Levis fit really well.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 month ago

So fun--and funny!--to hear some of you saying you are now wanting to try jorts. Hop on--the more the merrier!
kkards, I do think they will work with sneakers! I didn't try it yet.
RobinF, thanks. I get it--shorts lengths are like skirt and dress lengths. It looks like there are a range of shorts lengths this season, which makes me happy.
    JAileen, ha! Thank you.
Thank you, Sal and Bonnie, for your kind compliments.

    Just gorgeous!

You look so good in the Jory’s. Love the boots and the sweater great outfits!

  • Janet replied 4 weeks ago

I was not expecting to like something called “Jorts” LOL But I really like your first styling of them — a bit more gaucho-like!

I sometimes wear long denim cutoffs in summer, but they have a narrow leg (they’re just old hacked Gap bootcuts that must be nearly 20 years old!). That’s probably as far as I’ll take this particular trend. It looks fab on you though!

  • Cookie replied 4 weeks ago

My reaction is identical to Janet’s, haha. But I really do like them with the tights and wonderful new boots. Also very impressed you made that sweater!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 weeks ago

    Thanks, Slim cat, Debbie,and Cookie
Janet, I really like the long, narrow and tapered cutoff look, too. I have wanted to try it by cutting off some jeans, but by the time I'm ready to sacrifice a pair of jeans, they either no longer fit or I don't like the rise anymore!

  • Ket replied 4 weeks ago

Oh, Sharan! You are on fire in these! I love them with your new cowboy boots too. OH MY!! You look so modern and on trend, yet give me some 70s vibes. Really chic and lovely!

It was so good I read your post. I've spent the last couple days watching a very famous bodybuilding coach run around in his super short cut-off jorts. Not a pretty sight, no matter that he's ripped and buff. Your beautiful jorts and outfit have recovered my corneas haha!! :D xo

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 weeks ago

Aw, thanks, Ket! You gave me a laugh, too--so glad to have healed your corneas!

  • SarahD8 replied 3 weeks ago

Oh wow! Count me as another who was not expecting to be so impressed by jorts. Looks amazing!

You have a keen eye for identifying trendy-to-the-point-of-avant-garde items that will work for you. I admire your style confidence! (If it had been me, I would have spent like 4 months feeling drawn to these pants, repeatedly talking myself out of them, and ultimately missing out. You just...ordered them! And styled them with aplomb!)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 weeks ago

Aw, thanks, SarahD8! I always have an eye out for longer shorts. And I was able to try on a pair at Anthro, not quite my size, but they gave me a pretty good idea that they would work. I really dislike trying things online with no idea of how the size or style is going to look on me.

  • Bijou replied 3 weeks ago

Best jorts outfit and model ever! The cowboy boots are fabulous with them and so fun.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 3 weeks ago

    Thank you, Bijou!

  • Carol replied 3 weeks ago

Barrel jorts with cowboy boots combo is blowing my mind! Also cowboy belt.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 weeks ago

Thanks, Carol! I've had the belt for probably close to 15 years, and I still love it.
